PB 80 yesterday with 3 doubles and a triple at the end.  2 doubles came from an inexplicable lost ball in an area I had no business losing a ball.  Triple on 17 got from me playing undisciplined and trying something I probably shouldn't.

Par, double, bogey, bogey, bogey 25.  Wife got too hot so we called it a day.  Side note, I came close to hitting someone with a ball for the 1st time.  (I felt like an a**.)

It happens and everyone on the course knows the risk. Don’t feel bad.

Just nine holes yesterday.

Even par- was 2 under until I lost a ball right in front of the green in the rough, we all saw it land "safe" off the tee, just no where to be found when we got up there, took the double bogey and moved on. My friend behind me found it and threw it at me on the 7th tee box. Said it plugged in the rough just in front of the green, he stepped on it or else he would not have seen it.

45-41 with 3 doubles and 1 triple . And one of the doubles was sand save.

+1 through 5 holes, ended with a birdie though. On some days my left wrist only lets me make about 3 swings before golf becomes really painful. Probably have as many DNF's as completed rounds this year. Still love the good walk, even if the body spoils it.

Played yesterday in the ladies choice tournament.  Format is 2 net of 4.  Started off poorly by making horrendous lag putts and essentially 3 putting 3 of the first 5 holes.   Doubled an easy par 3.  Short irons and putter got hot and got 4 birdies in the last 9 holes.  Ended with a 77.

We ended up tied for 2nd net and we had to go back out and play 2 more holes to settle the pari-mutuel bets.  Ended up winning 2nd net to win some sweet sweet shop credit.

48 on 9.  Jerks behind me were rushing me, and told me to hit into the group in front of me before they hit into me.  I wasn't in a good headspace despite trying a new little trick from Harvey Penick's Red Book that showed some improvement on my drives and approach shots...LOTTA 3-putts.

46 on a 9 I'm familiar with.  Couldn't hit a drive straight, so played a lot of short shots trying to save par.  Haven't played more than once a year for more than a decade and trying to find my game.  Encouraged by the short game - have to figure out alignment for the full swing - especially off the tee.  Approach shots generally not a disaster, but need to find the big swing.  Fourth time out this month, so that's good...

Hit my first 39 last weekend - Not the hardest course, but still a milestone I've been wanting to hit. Only took driver off the tee twice, played with course management in mind. Next stop, break 80!

Shot my low round ever, with a very large caveat (this is a par 70 that plays about 5,900 yds), by making a very dramatic driver change. I benched my 9* Cobra SZ that I have been hitting all over the face and brought out an old experimental driver I built when I was really driving poorly a two years ago. I used an old 13* Nike Sumo head and put in a 43" shaft so it effectively plays like a 460cc 3 wood. It was like re-uniting with an old friend. It has been very dry so I the ball was running out a decent amount I was getting this "driver" out there about the same as my Cobra-distance wise which makes almost no sense except that I am sure I was hitting the center much better and hitting it out of a very nice launch window. Was averaging about 270 total off the tee with this thing (probably carrying 240-250). It was so dramatic I am considering just immediately selling the Cobra, like today.

Went out in 31 (holed out for eagle on #1 from 92 yds which helped) and came back in with 34 for a -5 65. Works out to a -2.0 differential which is also a record for me. Dropped my handicap a full point (didn't really want that but ok) to a 3.7. It really was all down to my driving, I was in great position all day and just had so much fun. Not that anyone cares what I shot and the course is quite short but it still feels very very good. I still had to make putts all day and hit a bunch of good wedges from awkward distances. Golf is just so much more fun when I have control of my driver.

I played a Nike Ignite "Lucky 13" with a tip/mid stiff x flex shaft on tighter courses back around 2006 with great results. Smoked drives with the Ignite 9.5° weren't terribly longer.

I find lighter is better in my putter. With a heavier head I get to relying too much on the “weight” to get the ball to the hole, resulting in erratic distance control, while a lighter head it becomes a better “feel” for distance.

thats what I find too, but on short putts my stroke is erratic with a lighter putter.

Maybe I should carry two putters lol
