What'd You Shoot Today?

Only played 9 and shot a +8 - had a hole out from a greenside bunker for birdie but the rest of the round was so so with missed fairways and having to punch out.

3 putts killed me (7 of them ☹️) today but still managed to hit 90 on the nose. Finished the day bird-par-par was a nice feeling.

Started the weekend as a 14.4 cap who had only shot in the 70s 3 times, and I fired back-to-back 79s over the weekend! I’ve been working on a swing change, and I finally think it’s starting to groove. My irons and driver are the best they’ve ever been, and my putter just caught fire. Highlight of today was totaling 5 birdies (with zero on par 5s)!

39-39 78. Made a major swing change two days before in a single range session, reverting to my natural shot shape after two years of forcing a fade into my game. Very uncomfortable yesterday but persisted with it on the course. Today played last 12 holes 1 over in strong winds so think I’ve bedded the change in quickly.

77 gross. Pairs comp but my partner went AWOL for most of the round. Great to play the ball off grass, not plastic. Some seriously bare lies and very little growth.

20 over 88. First loop was a 42 with 20 putts, second loop was a 46 with 16 putts. I was just a little off on the greens today, especially on the first loop. So many where I didn't hit it hard enough, or short to shortish ones where I barely burned the edge. Luckily the rest of the game was decent, allowed me to post a decent score. Second loop is where I was slightly better on the greens, but the other parts of the game deteriorated more than enough to offset the difference. Not a great score, but I feel one I can be proud of, especially the first loop.

Even par 71. Chipped in twice. 11 fairways (missed the others by less than 10 yards), 11 greens. Pretty solid day. Would like a few back, as with any round, but my best round in several years.

Out on Saturday at my local course playing the yellows to prep for the senior league.  Everything was working ok. Four birdies in a 76 score.

79-78 on weekend. Seem to be stuck shooting between 78-80 every round. Never better, never worse lately. 3 over after 15 yesterday and middle of fairway on every hole coming in, should have done better.

After a few months fighting back issues and difficulties hitting my driver, my swing and clubs seem to be clicking now. My handicap had climbed to 13 but my last 5 rounds are 83, 92, 80, 83, 80. Handicap is back down to 9.7. Last round should have been in the 70's with 3 very silly dropped shots on the last 3 holes.

80 with two doubles and bumpy, slow post-winter greens - shoulder held up well to first real 18 holes this year - there is hope for this season! I'm bustin' Jerry!

Was out with my sons today for 18.  Ended up shooting 80 with a birdie and an EAGLE.  Par 4 265 yards and my tee shot ended up 3' dead left of the hole.  🥳  I did a happy dance. Last one was four years ago and I worked for it.

88 today at Texas Star in DFW.  My personal best.  41-47.  I even doubled 18 to make it interesting.

 

I have been trying to break 90 forever.  I know that's not all that impressive, but man is it a huge weight off my shoulders.  I have been striking the ball well for a long time now, just being a mental case and not finishing strong and having huge blowup holes.  I only had 1 today.

70 years old. Had to move back to the tips at 6300 as I have a tournament coming up.  Last 2 nine hole scores from the tips are 39 and 38.  

 

Shot 72 last week from the senior tees.  Hopefully I'll shoot my age this year.  Shot a 33 for 9 holes 3 weeks ago.

Had my all time best round of 75 yesterday.  Just one birdie but hit 11 greens and got up/down a few times.  I’m an 11 cap looking to get to high single digits this year.

81. Had a "Tin cup" moment on 7. Was trying to hit a fade/push fade off a bunker on a dog leg par 5. My DECADE target should have been further right, but I was determined to hit it there and make birdie coming off a stupid double. Pull draw - splash, pull draw - splash, pull draw, splash. Finally hit a good one. My target really needs to be about 20 yards right of where I hit it. A pull draw has a shot if so.

Broke 80 for the first time today, with a 79!!! I took the morning off work and played a solo round.

 

With 34 putts and a three-putt on 18, no less. 😆 I hit the ball really well off the tee, even my missed fairways were mostly “good” misses. Irons really came alive on the back 9, and I barely had to hit any wedges. Really only had to punch out of trouble once.

 

I’ve been close so many times and imploded on the last 2 or 3 holes. Today I hit the best tee shots of the day on 17 and 18, right up the middle of the fairway. Unreal!

Interesting round today. First hole had an easy 58 degree wedge into the green, hit it right at the pin and saw it lip out. 4th hole, slightly mishit my 7 iron on a par 3 but it cleared the pond in front. Rolled up nice towards the pin and may (?) have hit it. My playing partner said it did, I wasn't sure. 8th hole, dumped my tee shot in the hazard. Went to the drop area and hit a wedge onto the green, nailed the pin and it stopped 8' away. Easy par! Had a mid round crisis (starting with that 8th hole) where I couldn't get off the tee. But ended up with 4 birdies and a round of +5. A little more consistency and it could have been a really good day.

Got out and did 2 loops of my home course today. First loop was my best golf of the season, shot a 37 with 6 of 9 GIR, 4 of 6 fairways hit with one miss being in a greenside bunker on the driveable par 4 9th. I had a really nice streak on the first 3 holes of putting my 2nd shot to about 6 feet, although the 3rd one was a lag putt. Second loop fatigue started to set in a little particularly in the middle of the loop and execution suffered. Even with the added strokes on a couple holes, I'm quite happy with how I played.

79…+3, +4.  Was +4 through 15 holes, was waiting on 4 some every hole since the 2nd (by myself) was waiting a good 5-10 mins so texted a buddy playing good today.  Proceed to go Double, Par, Bogey. Should have been +1 those last 3, but pulled a shot into green and then skulled a chip from 15 ft in front of pin to 20 ft behind it 🤦🏻‍♂️. Still other than 4-5 swings everything was pretty under control.
