Have they released this finish before? I was about to pull the trigger on some TC-201, but saw these with the QPQ finish drop today. Might order these instead. Anyone have experience with this finish? Here’s their marketing bit:

Miura’s Black QPQ finish is the product of a careful, labor-intensive process that works the pigment into the top layer of steel in the golf club head. The resulting finish has an appealing depth, is durable and retains the feel and performance of a Miura iron. Over time, the Black QPQ will wear into a patina, especially on the parts of the club that contact the ball and the ground — that is, the face and the sole. This finishing process does not affect the quality or durability of the club. But of course, it does change the appearance over time.

There is a description of it in Golf posted today:

Thanks! “Improved black finish” seems to indicate that the previous black finish was of lower durability than what we can expect from this one.

Black on black will look very nice. Id put a Z Cord grip on those bad boys to match the black and white of the head

Or better yet, No 1 Pro 50 Blackouts.

The answer to better golf is work your butt off and learn how to hit it better, farther, and make more putts.

As mentioned previous black finish wore quickly, and even rusted easily if you didn’t carefully dry them after play. The new one sounds designed the same way, saying that it will patina over time. It’s cool at first but just does not look reflective of the wear actually on the irons. At least with the old finish, after a few sessions the black looked like you played several seasons on it. Chrome is the way to go imo, unless you just like your $3,000 irons looking like you got them out of the bargain barrel after half a season.

I got a 52* and 58* (high bounce) with the QPQ finish a short time ago. Have only played 4 rounds with them and had a couple of range sessions, but as of yet there is zero sign of wear (of course, that's not saying much).

Would take a picture, but FedEx picked my clubs up today (have a charity tourney in Sarasota this weekend, and Ship Sticks is way easier than lugging them through airports).

I will say this - these are the first Miuras I've ever bought, and they are, without a doubt, the best wedges I've ever played. The balance, the feel, the incredible subtleties of the clubhead design. (Plus, I holed out a long sand shot on the first round I played with them - a very good omen).

And they are just drop dead gorgeous.

I like the finish after you stripped the finish. What did you use? Will the new stripped irons rust more? Can you post new pics?

That is the QPQ finish after about 30 rounds. I didn’t strip the finish, just the white paintfill.

Any pics of the face? I’m interested in the qpq version, but like another member posted, the old black finish wore out poorly after a handful of rounds.

Haven’t played a ton of golf since this was taken (September 9th), so it’s a good representation of the wear so far.
