Played first seven holes +7 yesterday then said F it and started pounding two hearteds. Played last eleven holes -1 lol.

 

This exact same thing happened good Friday. Didn't make a par until hole seven, then hit the beers and played last twelve holes +2 which was pretty damn good considering the weather conditions.

Played The Orchards yesterday. Course was in good shape and the greens were MOVING. I was shocked how fast they were. Pace was slow but I’m unfortunately getting used to that.

I played in the Silver/tips scramble yesterday at Boulder Pointe. You played in eightsomes and flip a poker chip on each hole to determine whether you were playing the silver (forward) tees or the Tips.

 

All I'm going to say it that course from the tips into a 20 mph wind is brutal!

Years ago when I used to drink, I would refer to Two Hearted as the “gateway drug to IPAs.”  The other one is Shorts Huma Lupa Licous.

Looking forward to getting out with the son today at Leslie Park in A2.  We'll almost beat the heat with a 9am tee time.  Course is great fun, but not on my list to walk it, especially with 80*+ forecast.  Had a great range session working on fine tuning the swing takeaway and tightening the targeting up yesterday at Lyon Oaks facility.

For me it was Sierra Nevada pale ale. That opened my eyes and pallette to hoppier beers.

Got out on “The Heather” and “Hills” courses at Boyne this week (liked the Heather better), Really nice experience, played as a single and was pretty much the only one out there. still a bit chilly but way, way better than work!! Shot an 89 on both from the orange tees. Cleared the pond at the Heather and made bogey, dumped my 2nd in the water at the Hills and took a snowman 😔

Which playing partner?  I golf with about 14 guys at Lyon (I play with all the young pups...Zach hit it 90 feet over the tree on 11 last week).

 

The range is FINALLY open.  It's a great range. 

 

As for Leslie Park, I love it.  We call it U of M Junior.  It's such a fun course and it really deserves to win Best Muni in Detroit.

There is a guy on Metro Detroit Golfers on Facebook who is a member of Greywalls.  His name is Andrew Christopher Flynn.  He is always telling people to message him if they are heading to the UP.  Worth a try.

Havent played Heritage but Greywalls was like going to Jurassic Park.  Wild.

Two all time favorites of mine.  Played last week for the first time this year on a buddies trip.  Courses were in awesome shape aside from a few bunkers that were hard packed.

We did our buddies trip there a few years ago.  Played Stoatin, Stonehedge North and South, and Bedford.

In order of how much i enjoyed them id rank them as:

Stoatin (absolutely loved this one)

noticeable gap

Stone North 

Stone South

Change of pace and psychology for me today.  Hit up Bushwood GC, a laid back executive par 3 in Northville that winds thru a housing complex.  For $10, it was shockingly nice.  First green had some winter kill and the tee boxes were so-so, but very scenic for a neighborhood round.  Used to be called Dun Rovin a while back. Four tee choices for teeing it up which I did find a bit hilarious.  🙂 All in all, a nice walk with the Sunday bag and very relaxing for an early morning exploration.

I went yesterday (Saturday).  Spent a good 5 hours there - followed Colin Montgomerie's group from the driving range to the 4th and 5th hole, then hung out until Langer's group went through, then made our way to the 18th green to see a few groups finish up.

I would love it, if they allowed it to play like it was designed.  It should be firm and fast, but it doesn't play that way at all. I am not sure if they had pace of play issues or member complaints, but that course could be unbelievable if they let it play the right way.

I was there in 2019 and it sure seemed firm and fast to me.
