Junior push-cart

My son turns 10 this year and has been playing in tournaments for awhile.  Typically, I caddied for him and since the US Kids bags were so small I used my Clicgear push-cart with my golf bag and just put his clubs in it.  That let us carry more gear and the weight wasn't an issue since I was the one doing the pushing.  Now, he'll be in tournaments without a caddie and what I've found ( from trying before ) is having his bag on my cart isn't a great solution.  The bag is short so I use the trick of putting a volleyball under the bottom of the bag but since the bag doesn't hold much there's not a lot of weight over the front wheel.  If there's much of a grade or if the umbrella is screwed in and there's a little wind the whole cart falls over backwards.  So, either I get him a new bag and he uses my cart or I get him a cart that has more balance ( possibly more weight over the front ).  Since we'll be playing more and more together I figure the cart over the bag first so we can both walk.  Any suggestions for the cart or have others gone with more of an adult bag and cart?  Thanks.

Clicgear makes a kids push cart made for smaller bags. Have you looked at those?

Tour Series 57 clubs, adult Bag Boy Chiller Hybrid bag (with 14-way divider), Bag Boy Quad Cart.  Works for us.

@rochestergolfer36I assume you're referring to Rovic Model RV3J Junior.  I haven't seen one in-person to check out but did read some reviews that the front wheel being under the bag caused instability.  I gathered those complaints were more left to right than front to back like I experienced with mine but could be wrong.  I need to do more due diligence on that model.

The ClicGear 4.0 has an adjustable upper strap that can go up and down to accommodate for smaller bags.

Have you thought about getting both a bigger bag and a push cart? He'll need an adult bag before too long anyway, and you could put some styrofoam or something in the bottom of it so his shorter clubs don't fall down past the dividers for the time being. If you just buy a Jr pushcart now I feel like you'll end up having to replace it in a few years with an adult size one anyway.

No additional due diligence is needed on your part.

 

The Rovic Jr. is extremely unstable on sidehills, and your son will be picking the cart and bag up off the ground at least once per round.  Also, if you hit any kind of hole straight-on with the front wheel...it's so small that it will get caught in the hole and the entire cart will do an endo.  A positive for the Rovic Jr. is that it's very easy to pack/unpack.  You keep the bag attached to the cart at all times and load the cart + bag strapped together.

 

If I knew then what I know now, I would have bought a full size 14 way bag, with a full size push cart from the jump.

It's sounding more and more like finding the right combination for junior versions of the cart and bag isn't going to gain me much so keep the feedback coming on adult bags and carts preferred for juniors.  I hear the Ping Hoofer Light is liked in case the junior has to carry it since it's light.  Any others your junior preferred?  Any adult carts that were difficult to push or use for juniors? Thanks!

Adult bag on a Clicgear and if the clubs are too short by the divider tubes from your local sports store. They will keep the clubs from falling down. Problem solved. My son has no issues pushing his Clicgear 3.5+.

Make sure you put head covers on the irons as well.

My 12 or old daughter has this model and it will def tip side to side. We really like the cart though and it is very easy for her to handle. Doesnt take much for it to tip....thats for sure!!!!

We have a Rovic Jr and my son flipped it twice on our first round out with it. He clipped his leg pretty good on a slide hill flip and it sent him in a tizzy for the next couple of holes. The other time the front wheel go stuck in a depression/hole on the course. 

 

The cart is well made and rolls really well. It is also compact and fits in the car easily. I wouldnt have a lot of trouble with it, but it requres my 12 Yo to pay attention to what he is doing.
