Thanks for posting this up.  I received an SC300i today, downloaded the app, paired via bluetooth, and updated the firmware.  Not the easiest thing to do since there weren't any useful directions that came with the unit. 

 

It will go into SWG mode now.

Costco has the price down to $230. How worthwhile is this unit with range balls for strictly carry distances?

I was using mine at the range earlier today for that purpose. Seems pretty accurate. I've hit a billion balls on Trackman so I'm pretty confident in my distances and swing speed. I didn't get any weird readings from the SC300i.

Mine struggled when I got to 6 iron. Started reading 200 yards about half the time. Then telling me im carrying driver 325 with 114 club speed. Worked well on low irons and wedges, but I returned mine

I have a sc300i waiting in an online cart for $299. Is this a worthwhile purchase.  

 

Im thinking any launch monitor under $1000 or even $500 can be a questionable purchase 

 

only plus it will be a Costco purchase. And they always take everything back. Even purchases made years ago. So if I give this product a real good trial this summer and find it bad. Should be able to return it

Since I got the SC300i earlier this year I've made a habit of using it during most range sessions. I leave it set to measure Carry distance and use the remote to indicate when I'm changing clubs. Then I download my session data into the app when I'm done so I can keep an eye on overall trends. 

 

Here are a few things I've noticed: 

• Most of the metrics seem very accurate with longer clubs excluding Smash Factor which seems to be somewhat exaggerated 
• With shorter clubs the data is still mostly accurate but club head speed seems to be exaggerated
• When I try to play to off-line targets on the range the ball can't be read because it's not flying where the device is looking for it, which makes sense.

I still get value from the data and it's been great for helping learn my partial wedge distances. The device and app are easy enough to use while being far from state of the art.

Not questionable at all, IMO. I bought mine back in December for $250 on Amazon, so you might be able to find it for a little less. However, that return policy might be worth the extra $50.

 

I had tried out the SC300i on a 30 day trial several years ago when it was priced around $550. I liked it then, but not at that price when I could get the Garmin R10 for $600. I tried out just about every sub-$1k LM and the OG Skytrak, too. Had the Rapsodo MLM2 Pro for a year before selling it. Came back to the SC300i because of ease of use. Turn it on, set it down, and start swinging. There’s an app, but it’s not needed. I don’t use it. And the battery lasts forever!

 

I use it when hitting into the net 99% of the time. I’ll use it at the range sometimes, but I tend to just use my rangefinder there. I’ve verified distances several times with the rangefinder and it has proven to be very accurate. I know my game pretty well and don’t need ball trajectory on a screen. I can tell by feel what it’s doing. Distance and speed were my primary needs and the SC300i delivers perfectly. And I really use it for short game and partial shots. I know my distances for full shots, but a LM is a necessity when practicing partial shots into a net.

Can the SC300i be set up to output its voice distance data to phone/earbuds? I have spent a couple range sessions next to people using one and got a little annoyed by the constant electronic voice saying "210 yards...195 yards...212 yards."  

 

I just got one for Father's Day and would like to be more considerate of golfers within earshot at the range. I know it pairs with a phone but so far I haven't been able to get mine to talk through the phone instead of its built-in speaker.

I haven’t tried that. I always have the volume off. The screen is easy to read.
