Hershey PA Area or Pocono Mountain Golf Weekend - May 2021

Happy Master's Sunday to ya'll.  A few buddies and myself are looking to do a Hershey PA or Pocono Mountain golf weekend in late May, and are looking for some course recommendations.  We're not looking to completely break the bank (a few guys with kids on the way), so really just looking for some quality, affordable, fun tracks.  We'll have between 6-8 players, can all break 90, and are looking for an excuse to get away!

 

Any advice is appreciated.  Thanks in advance!

My Poconos recommendations usually are Great Bear (play on Mon-Thu to save big $$), Jack Frost National, Shawnee (27 holes), Hideaway Hills, Mt. Airy (casino on the property). I haven't played these in a couple years but they are usually pretty solid and should be well under $100. Stay away from CC of the Poconos, terrible course.

Is CC of the Poconos the old Mountain Manor course? 

It's been a long time, but I remember Glen Brook in Stroudsburg being pretty nice and Shawnee was nice as well (from the few times I went golfing as a student at ESU).  Haven't played Jack Frost, but driving by it, it looks pretty nice too.  If I went back up there for homecoming, I'd look to play Great Bear which was built after I left.

CC of the Poconos is a housing development course built by Toll Brothers in the 2000s. It may have been called "CC of the Poconos at Big Ridge" for a while. Not what you were thinking of.

 

Mountain Manor closed permanently years ago and nature has reclaimed the course. If you remember Tamiment, that one closed permanently back in the 2000s too.

 

Pocono Manor Golf Club is still open but downsized from 36 holes to 18. I played it once and it wasn't my cup of tea.

 

I forgot about Glen Brook, that course has a bunch of fun holes. I last played it in probably 2016 or 2017 and conditioning was spotty at the time. Probably more of a local clientele. Walkable and reasonably priced.
