@golfpractitioner5 I looks like the same development team that did The Grove in College Grove, TN. I would think that you could only join the club if you bought a homesite but maybe that would not be true at the very start. I know The Grove requires purchase of a lot to be a member at this time.

I was thinking the same thing.  I know the grove only allowed outside membership for a short period of time from what I was told, and I assume like you that this place would be the same.  I am just surprised about the location for this development.

I was reading something on Facebook yesterday about a new Luxury Golf community going on on the Maury County side of Spring Hill.  The prices seem a bit out of place for the homes in Maury County in my opinion.

I think the name of the community is going to be called Firefly and housing costs will range from $800k-$1.5 million.  400 home sites total with access to an 18-hole course and 9-hole short course.

This will do me no good as it is to far from where I live to consider membership and most likely out of my price range anyways.  I just thought it interesting as that is not the county I would have guessed would be getting the next private course offering.  I was sure it would be Rutherford, but unfortunately, it will not be.

Yeah so I actually inquired as the pricing didn't sound bad for a gated community with the same developer as The Grove.

They emailed me back today and....are you ready...homes start at $2.75m. The lots themselves are what start at $500k-1.5M

I almost just sent LOL as a reply. I live in Williamson County now and we do OK, but I am by no means nowhere near that kind of wealth, haha.

Here are all the details I was sent -

I have included all the details on Firefly so far, including an informative Vision Book for the community plans, a conceptual site plan map highlighting Phase 1 homesites and the location of all the planned amenities, and a Frequently Asked Questions document that will answer many of the initial questions about how to participate as a Founder Member in the new club. You can access all the documents in the Dropbox link here: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/nl8py2kevyhhnyr573u2b/AM54gtaO8ZBSfARq_DTtUz8?rlkey=4wnovpfxawnp8m9lwecyveznj&st=abpxur98&dl=0

Initial homesite pricing will range from $500,000 to over $1,500,000 and our homes will start at $2,750,000 and up.

Our website, (see link below) will offer more information and will be a great resource to keep you up to date on all of the things
taking place at Firefly.

I’m in WilCo too. Been here since 2005. If I sold today I could buy a lot just can’t build the home. Another course coming in that I can’t get in to.

So it's been a few years since I started looking at a potential move to middle TN and man o man have things just gotten out of hand. I am on the wait list at NGAC but the membership director has said I basically have like zero chance since I don't know a reference member to provide a letter of recommendation (she said a letter of reco from my club manager wasn't really of any value). She also said there's next to no movement on people leaving/opening up spots. Old Natchez has a fairly good system (1.5 - 2 year outlook on waiting list) but their prices have gone up pretty significantly since I started looking. Vanderbilt closed the waiting list so that took care of that one. Pricing elsewhere is just nutty. The final kick in the nards was I saw that there's now a waitlist at the gym I'd like to transfer my membership to (Lifetime in Franklin). A waitlist at a gym???? Seriously??? Ugh.

I'm a member here in the ATL at Rivermont and feel like memberships anywhere are too valuable to give up right now.

There's family reason for moving to Brentwood/Franklin area but jeez-louise there's no good path for someone who doesn't have connections, beaucoup bux, or doesn't mind driving a lot. I do like hitting balls at Harpeth Valley Golf Center, but I need a place to call home that's not 40 miles out.

You tried West Haven, Franklin Bridge or somewhere like that. West Haven is Hi End and Franklin should be opposite end of the spectrum.

This is one of the major reasons I chose to move to Chattanooga vs Nashville when I moved to TN four years ago.

I work in Franklin and two days a week I pass by Lifetime a few times a day. I've never seen that parking lot not empty. I live just below 840 and have for just shy of 20 years. It's getting crowded in Williamson County.

I have hit balls at Franklin Bridge but not played the course; they don't even do their memberships anymore or are sold out. We drove through Westhaven pre-covid but prices there are up like 50% since then.

There is a Del Webb retirement community in Spring Hill that had lots of amenities but I'm not sure what to do about golf if I ever convinced my wife that Spring Hill was an option.

re: "I've never seen that parking lot not empty." So you're saying it's odd there's a waiting list? The double negative perplexes my pea-sized brain. 🙂

I’m unsure of your age but Southern Springs is an “elder” community only. We got a flier about that gym before it opened. Apparently is very popular. My neighbor is a trainer there and does really well.

Anyone played that track? Any opinions? Looks like they have annual memberships.

Hmmmmm. That's a suggestion worth digging into.

Several times and I believe a few other forum members will have thoughts.

Short answer: Fun course that is has seen significant improvement in the past few years and seems to have positive momentum.

Long answer: Nicer conditions than most public courses and usually on par with Hermitage and Gaylord. Definitely better conditions than Franklin Bridge and not as crowded. Just re-did their clubhouse (if that matters to you, it means nothing to me). Has a bit of a funky layout with an extra par 3, greens can get pretty fast (again for a public track). Has gotten significantly more expensive since they started sprucing it up and there seems to be more and more houses going up around the golf course as well. Overall, on the semi-private side of things I would say I like it more than Gaylord but less than Hermitage. If it were closer I would play it more often. Has a driveable par 4 and a good mix of par 3s. I think my least favorite holes out there are generally par 5s.

I'll agree here. I've been playing it since it was still opening and 9 holes. I moved to the area in 2005. Tons of changes since it opened. They deleted so many bunkers. Honestly sped the place up a tad. The par 5's do stink. The green layouts won't accept a wood or long iron due to the depths. No 3 is the easiest of the bunch. No 7 you really have to rope one down the hill but that green will hold a longer club. 16 and 17 are really rude. Uphill sort of blind second shot into a shallow green. 17 is a slight dogleg left with little room straight away(water)and a terrible slighty elevated shallow green.

@8overpar Yeah, I was specifically thinking of 16 and 17 when I made that comment. The green on #7 is interesting and if you play shorter tees #3 is gettable but 17 especially just burns me up a bit. When it is dry it is VERY easy to push it too far into that water. I do think that stretch from holes 10-15 is pretty solid though. #11 gives you tons of options, #12 and #14 are very much asking you to hit a specific shot and #13 and #15 (par 3s) can play pretty tough in the wind. All in all it is a good golf course by Nashville public standards.

Former Nashville resident here. Moved ~20y ago. This thread is sad. It was so nice back then. Now Nashville sounds about the same as Northern Virginia. Insanely priced homes and not nearly enough golf courses. Or roads, or other infrastructure..

Watched a little of the Nate Bargatze special the other day; he starts off basically saying enjoy Nashville but please don't move there.

Unaffordable housing combined with waitlists at the golf courses and the gym?!? I don't know how to pull this move off satisfactorily.

Just move to Troubadour and put a home gym in 😆. I spent years in Virginia Beach, VA and could be on 5 courses within 15 minutes for $25-30 walking. It’s frustrating trying to find a round for the weekend when you don’t start until Wednesday the same week.

Walked shelby last week and I will tentatively say that the new greens are fairly interesting. They have some slope to them and makes the course much closer to a real golf course than it ever was before. I still think there are some really week holes out there (Holes 3-9 is a pretty bleak stretch) but it is a realistic option now when it wasn't before.

Hey guys, I am going through Nashville next week for a few days.  I got time for a round and can play through my INVITED Club membership.  Which course would be best recommended - Bluegrass CC or Temple Hills CC?  Just looking for the best course and club to get to for a day.  Thanks.

Neither is particularly noteworthy. Bluegrass is mostly narrow and straight while Temple Hills weaves around a bunch of houses. They are on complete opposite sides of town so I'd just choose whichever is closer to where you are staying, or whichever can give you a more optimal tee time slot.

If you do play... good luck. The weather doesn't look good for golf that week. Temps of 30-40* most days with a chance of rain/snow mid-week. I'd expect conditions to be cold and very sloppy.

Thanks.  Yeah, I might just backout.  My chance to play would be Friday.  Mid 40s and swampy this time of year is the same in Georgia, not that desperate to get out.
