Courses in Grand Rapids, MI

Hey all -- I'm looking for some recommendations for courses in the Grand Rapids, MI area. We have family in Byron Center (don't play golf) and will be there Memorial Day weekend and I'm looking to play that Saturday morning. I've only played one other course there last summer, Thornapple Pointe, and really enjoyed that track. For $60, that course is amazing compared to what $60 will get you in the Chicagoland suburbs. Looking for something similar and dont mind spending more either.

Try The Mines, a golf course designed by Mike Devries and by all accounts a real gem at a good price.

Pilgrim's Run is north of GR and would be a bit of a hike but it's very nice (and very reasonable), probably my favorite course in the area.

LE Kaufman in Wyoming is a good muni

Diamond Springs in Hamilton is another DeVries design

The Meadows at Grand Valley State U in Allendale is a quality track

Pilgrims Run for sure....best course in the area without a doubt.

Thanks for all the responses! Will definitely look into all that was mentioned but it’s looking like Pilgrims Run is the top choice!

Another vote for Pilgrims. Probably haven't played it in close to 10 years but it was one of my favorite courses when I did. Unlike anything you'll find in Chicagoland.

Pilgrims is great. Also, I enjoyed Cedar Chase, which is pretty close to Pilgrim's. Like Pilgrim's, Cedar Chase has a secluded feel and the course conditions have been good when I've played it. Challenging too, especially the back 9.

I'd say in the area, Pilgrims Run is definitely worth a visit. I really enjoyed playing the Mines as well.

The Ravines is a 30-35 minute drive and is also a great track. Depends on where you are relative to GR.

One maybe to look into is American Dunes. This is a bit pricey, and I haven't played it yet, but it is getting great reviews as a complete redesign of the Grand Haven Golf Club. Supports a great cause as well. I really liked Grand Haven Golf Club, but sounds like the Nicklaus redesign is something else.

American Dunes is opening next week and they've been pre-booking times for a while, will probably be hard to get on for a while during prime weekend times. Looking forward to playing it.
