Swapping Stroke Lab Shafts; UPDATED

Yesterday I picked up a Odyssey White Hot OG 7s with red stroke lab shaft for a great deal mint condition.  I have decided to swap the black stroke lab shaft in my Toulon for the red stroke lab shaft in the 7s and then sell the 7s.  I heard the new red stroke lab shaft was stiffer (more stable) and a better weighted.  Any reason not to do the switch?

I think you should try it.  You may actually want to weight both shafts while they are out and that would answer the weight question.  Also check the balance point to see if it has changed as well.  I personally don't care for the look of the red version but that's just my preference.

Will just give Odyssey a quick call and ask for specs on both shafts. I heard they made the red one a bit lighter and noticed the superstroke pistol tour grip is on there 69g and opposed to the stock std grip being 75g. Going to go with 33.5” length so a bit lighter shaft and grip should work to bring swingweight up a hair. Swingweight with old SL black shaft and stock grip at 34.25” is D5

Just got off the phone with Odyssey tech department. Said the 2 shafts are identical in weight and use the same butt weight. The Red shaft is only slightly stiffer.

That's what I thought.  I bet there is no difference in feel or performance.

So, I found a WH OG 7s with red SL shaft mint for $150usd.  It also has the SS GT Pistol Tour grip which I wanted to try, and plays 33.5” which I was also looking for (my Toulon played 34” and choked down 1/2”).  Swapped the shafts and selling the 7s to a friend with older SL shaft.   The result so far; feels the same from 6 feet on the putting mat. I haven’t tried long putts yet but was told shaft was stiffer. Shafts are same weight.

Bumping this thread. But how did you go about swapping the shafts? I currently have a 34" toulon and want to swap my 35" white hot red stroke lab into it.

I got my experienced club builder to swap the shafts for me.   Make sure both tips fit the same.
