True Temper Elevate Tour vs Dynamic Gold

Hstead

Recommended Posts

I am searching all over the place for a comparison between the Elevate Tour and the DG.  I have been fit into the DG X100 and like them but I ordered a set of PXG and decided to try the Elevate Tour X100.

I understand the weight is different, Elevates are 122g and the DG X100 are 130g.  The wall thickness is different, the kick point is slightly different, I get all of that.

What I am looking for is playability.  How different are they feel wise, is the flight that much different, dispersion?  Are there any Tour players using the Elevates?

I won't go as far as to say the Elevate Tour is smoother than a Modus shaft (see my signature) however I will say they are much less crisp than a DG or DG 120.  If I had to play a True Temper product, the Elevate Tour S300 or Elevate ETS 115 Stiff.  I never saw a big increase in launch, peak height or spin with Elevate vs any other shaft I tested.  The shaft is a nice alternative to DG without radical changes in performance.

For what its worth in my fitting, which ended me in the Elevate Tour X-stiff - I got 900rpm higher spin on a 7i with that vs X100/S400 (spun both of those the same) and 500 more than Project X LZ.

I find it to be a very smooth shaft, they have that virbration dampening core thing (bit of foam) in them to add to that feel. Launch is high, spin is higher but not silly .

In AMT white s300 right now, but coming from Modus 105 - x previously

not sold on the AMT, but needed a bit more weight in the scoring irons (8,9,P)...I thought, anyway

any takes on how Elevate Tour would perform for me?

appreciated

I switched from DG X100 to XP 115’s a few years back, which is similar to the TT Elevate tour X.

It wasn’t a bad transition. I found the DG120x to be more like the DG X100 than the XP 115, but the TT Elevate Tour was the best of both worlds. Tight like the DG120X, smoother than the better feeling XP 115, and you could go after it like an X100.

The Elevate Tour is like a DG 120x in stability, with an XP 115 s300 feel (only better) at impact.

Great Shaft. It was my top 3 when I got fit, but went with the Modus 105s hs/x1 over the TT Elevate Tour x and KBS Tour 120. I liked all three very much, it’s just the Modus edged the others out. I could play any of the 3 honestly

Depends on your SS, and how much faster you swing Elevates.  Elevate = higher spin and higher trajectory, vs DGX100 is lower and lower.  Dispersion depends on how consistent your swing and impact is.  Handles are similar.  They will likely feel different if you're sensitive to shaft behavior.

I launch the elevates the same as I did the tour issue X100 so dont get hung up on that aspect. My spin actually lowered also the elevate tour X100 is a very stable and the feel is better than anything on the market steel shaft wise for me a big sleeper shaft for sure

I found the Modus 105x to be miles stiffer than the AMT for starters but I have only hit the AMT’s up high. The Modus 105x is also 112 grams.

i have limited experience with the AMT white, but I did have one in my Titleist T-MB 3-4 iron and I had XP 115’s in my T-MB set 5-PW.  I bought the 3-4 irons separate online and didn’t care for the shafts at all, so I reshafted with XP115’s to match my set.

The Elevate tours will be slightly heavier in the short irons, lighter in the scoring irons and heavier than the Modus 105x by 5-10 grams depending on flex

. As far as feel to flex compared to your other shafts Modus 105x and AMT White s300’s for me anyways, I felt like the Elevates will be closer to your AMT’s in feel for stiffness. I think people are thrown off by the Elevate and XP names, but they are not high launching shafts at all. I launched them the same as the DG120. In fact I think they are very much like a DG120x as far as being able to go after it, but a much more plush feel at impact.

For me, the Elevate Tour X flies lower than the AMT in the long irons, but I can’t comment on the scoring irons for the AMT since I haven’t hit them down low. The AMT in my 3-4 iron flew as high as the Modus 105s for me. I find that the Elevate Tour fly like my XP 115’s, slightly higher than the DG X100’s , but slightly lower than the Modus 105x for me anyways if that helps.  I think  that True Temper just rebranded the XP 115’s,  added vibration dampening, and called them Elevate Tour’s honestly.

The difference in weight from Modus 105x to Elevate Tour shafts

Modus 105x 112g

Elevate Tour s 117g

Elevate Tour x 122g

Elevate Tour plays significantly different than the DG line.  The VSS addition really works at dampening vibration.  I have hit the new ETS models.  They are supposed to make the tip a little firmer feeling, but keep the same trajectory.  I had the Elevate Tours in a set of 2013 X-Forged irons and really enjoyed the way they played.
