I haven’t played the tr black 6x but ive hit it.  
 

RPG is for more stout in my hands.  It’s also very high balance point.  Those two attributes made it too much for me and lead to me flipping and pulling it left.  I had a few really good rounds were I average about 10-20 yards more off tee with it, but in the end fearing the dead pull made me pull the shaft.  Pun intended.

Interesting, I didn’t realize it was such a high balance point. Couple questions:

 

Any idea how many swing weight points it changed?

 

what length do you play your driver at?

 

im assuming you were in the 462 M5+ in RPG and 6x in TR Black?

 

any idea what the head weight was of your driver? 

what shaft did you settle on?
 

sorry for the interrogation. I’m intrigued by the shaft, but don’t have anywhere to try it. Trying to get as much info as possible before deciding to purchase or not:

No worries. Yes to both shafts weight and flex. I only tipped the rpg .5 inches.  Not sure if the ventus was tipped

 

both were in a ai smoke TD head that weighed 198 grams if I remember correctly.  That plays right around d4 at 45 inches for most low balance point shafts.
 

i think i left the rpg at 45.5, maybe 45.25 and it was d2.  I remember adding about 5 grams of lead tape to get the feel right.  At that point the total weight of the driver was creeping up as well as those are both 70 grams shafts uncut, even though they are 6 x flex’s.

 

In the end I abandoned the rpg and ai smoke TD.

 

Ive been playing a qi ls 9 degree head and a wb63tx as my gamer setup for the last month and prefer it over the smoke TD.  It’s a more accurate combo for me in at the end of the day.  I’m toying with the La golf Bryson shaft but haven’t spent much time with it.

I’m in a Smoke TD 9* now (turned down to 8*) at 45.25”. I have an 8 gram weight up front and 12 in the back I believe. So a little heavier than stock. 
 

never put on a SW scale but it doesn’t feel heavy at all.

 

Do you happen to know if Ventus is also a slightly higher balance point shaft? 
 

got me thinking about that WB now 🤔

Not sure.  Ventus tr felt more conventional/low balance point.

Uhm kinda of a completely different feel. The TR Black had more feel but the Gold was more Linear

I love the TR Black 6x but can still turn it over by accident. Seems like the stiffer I go the less likely that is…RPG 462 m5 fit the bill?

Sorry no TR blk 6x , but blk og 6x and Ventus blue 7tx and 7tr x , IMOP the difference between the Ventus line and Accra rpg and tz , **is the handle stiffness ** 

 

when I hit them same driver head back to back , the Ventus requires much more timing vs the Accra linear feeling stiffer handle.  Other diff , the Accra could be my deliver of the club head and shaft , Accra launches a touch higher than comparable Ventus.

 

rpg for me m5 472 , is very very straight , I think the raw cpm is like 292 uncut , it’s a beast , very very straight , but with that because at 115-120 , if I’m not warmed up I’m prob not bringing enough speed / delivery on my low end  to get the most out of it , where the tz might be a slightly better fit for me .

Super helpful, I’m about the same swing speed as you though fairly aggressive transition. The stiffer handles typically work a bit better for me. Though interesting point about the low end of your speed and the stoutness of the shaft.
 

Looking at the 462 M5, the big boy 472 would be a bit much for me. 

 

makes me want to try out the RPG even more now.

The 462 m5 rpg I had 293 cpm on the butt sticker and I think it weighed right at 70 grams uncut.  It will handle all you can give it.  I think we discussed before but be prepared to add some head-weight or play over 45.25 inches long to get swing weight in the d3-d5 range.

Coincidently, just today started a little experiment with counterbalancing my driver. Had pretty good results on the launch monitor. Going out tomorrow morning to test it on course. The higher balance point may prove to be a non issue 👍👍

💯 on the it being a bit counter balanced , that CB is one of the reasons I went to the TZ5 .  But the feel “W” IMOP goes to the rpg .  I’ll def still keep toying with it but need lead tape and some Titleist weights
