What's the best platform to sell your pre-owned golf clubs?

I've sold clubs on offerup/letgo. eBay is good too

 

I find golfwrx to be one of the better selling communities around, at least as far as trust goes. Lots of reliable/good folks on here.

Just watch out on FB you get lots of crazy low ball offers. They tend to be a little more knowledgeable here and are usually willing to spend a little more for Niche items.

I’ve had way more hassles with FB Marketplace. I don’t get many offers selling here. eBay earns their fee IMO. The stuff moves.

Serious question.  Sort of new to Golf WRX and have been trying to get to the level required to post on Classified.  I've got a bunch to unload.  Have had success here and there but thought asking the community would be fastest rather than testing and learning myself.

Yep, I've noticed ebay has higher fees compared to others. 

I've tried Mercari but seems sketchy at times.  Have had people reaching out immediately after the listing goes live asking to reach out on their cell.

that's a scam tactic. If you're using something like offerup or letgo, never go for the BS cell phone communication. Keep the conversation on the app.

I have had ok luck on ebay and haven't tried anywhere else really. I've sold over $800 worth of crap I'm not playing so far this year.

I prefer Craigslist myself when I sell clubs I don't need and a great source when I buy since I don't have to deal with foreign exchange, shipping, and customs.

eBay.  I try to sell it here first, but after 24 hours it’s off to eBay where I can get at least market value unlike on here.

Same.  I move 80% of my golf stuff on ebay.  I do BST here every now and then when I feel as though I can make a little more and help another member out.  Those ebay fees can add up quick.

I’ve actually had recent success on FB, you just have to deal with low ball offers like mentioned above.  Just have to stay a little patient.  However, the bst here is great!  You would be surprised here with selling some used stuff cheap.  People snatch things up for club building practice or for their kids, etc.  You never know...

If your course permits it, post the items on the clubhouse bulletin board. I see this mainly at public courses vs. country clubs or semi-privates.

 

If you know the regulars fairly well, you may be able to sell them off without doing UPS-FedEx-PayPal hassle.

 

(But if you don't sell the wonder sticks in a couple of weeks, shift your focus to eBay and GolfWRX Classified.)

This is something I try to do to avoid the hassle of shipping.  With no shipping charges or fees I can offer stuff at really good deals and sell them at the course from time to time.

I tend to sell the most here, then FB and very last resort is Kijiji (Canadian Craigslist). I can't seem to sell on eBay as that would be the easiest just set and forget but the fees and scams I don't want to deal with honestly.

You know it would probably make sense for a lot of private course pro shops to facilitate "consignment sales" of used gear among members, though it would probably be frowned upon by the OEM's who have new gear in the shop. 

 

I'm thinking you could just put a price tag on each item with the member's number included. When a club sells, the pro could take 15% or whatever and credit the rest to the member's account.

I was telling the pro exactly this the other day.  They don’t sell new gear so it wouldn’t take away from their sales.  He didn’t want the hassle, but is happy to have us post listings on the bulletin board.

It seems like ebay's fees end up being justified in most cases because you get a market price rather than a lowball price. You can adjust the settings so you don't get lowball offers or have items accidentally sell too cheap. It's pretty painless as long as you take decent pictures and describe your items well.

Another idea would be to have the pro facilitate adult members giving clubs to juniors, maybe with some sort of incentive for the adult member.

I take good pics when I can except in winter time lol. But I just find it easier here and often list my stuff under what stuff on ebay is finishing at without needing to add tax or shipping.

I guess I'm fortunate on the shipping front. My local post office is nearby and I have to drive by a UPS Store to get to my office. I can see where that would be a hassle for some. 

 

To me the bigger hassle is trying to coordinate in-person meetups with flaky buyers.

eBay works great for me. I’ve sold about 10k worth of stuff there in my life. About 2k recently. I do sell nicer stuff and put exact descriptions of the clubs I sell. I only post buy it now items and set my price fairly. I do accept offers but easy to decline or counter offer. I find things sell quick for good money. The fee is worth the quick sales and convenience to me.
