The Golf Club at Lansdowne & NoVa Memberships

I’m looking into affordable jr executive/young professional memberships in the NoVa area near Reston and came across the Golf Club at Lansdowne. The initiation and dues look reasonable and a big plus is that it includes two courses — the Robert Trent Jones Jr and Greg Norman course. However, I have two potential concerns: 1) It’s a resort course owned by Troon so I’m not sure how busy it will get and what the community is like and 2) early weekend tee times (my strong preference) may not always be available to young professional members as it says “Golf Access may be limited to weekdays and weekend (Fri-Sun) after 12:00pm. Tee Times before 12:00pm on weekend make with 2-day advance tee time only.”

 

I wanted to see if anyone here is a member who would be willing to share insights. Additionally, if anyone has experience being a member at a resort course or has recommendations for affordable NoVa memberships near Reston, let me know!

I live in Reston and play at Stoneleigh GC, out in Round Hill.  Stoneleigh does have "junior" memberships, I'm not sure of the age requirements.  To my knowledge there are no restrictions on playing times, but again I'm not dead certain.  Its a little over a half hour drive each way for me, that may make it undesirable for you.  If you're interested, give a call to Clinton.

As part of Interclub leagues I get to play all of the local private clubs from time to time.  The courses at Lansdowne are both pretty solid, the conditions are good, the facilities are good.  On the other hand, as you say, its part of the "resort", so there definitely is some outside play.  Based on what I've learned playing with/against the Lansdowne guys, they tend to keep one course available for members each day, and schedule visitors on the other.  You also end up sharing some of the facilities with the resort guests, including the bar and dining.

Have you looked at Belmont just across route 7 from Landsdowne?

I should have mentioned that, along with River Creek, which is immediately west of Lansdowne.

Look at Loudoun County Club in Purcellville.  They have a "young adult" membership.  Join a country club, not a resort.

Check out Belmont across rt 7. I'm a member there, and the fees are very reasonable. Tee times aren't too tough to get, the practice facility is great.

I'm interested in "very reasonable"  I reached out to back shortly after Club Corp purchased them and the rates still seemed high at that point.  Wondering if anything has changed.  Thanks
