Bushnell Launch Pro Device with Foresight

I also think I read that Foresight has so many patents in the camera LM space that it's very difficult for anyone to develop a worthy camera-based competitor, not sure if that's true?

I don't know, but I occasionally mention my Accusport Vector Pro dating from 2008 which definitely works and is camera based. So I'd be surprised if there was anything that locks up camera tracking of a golf ball (club maybe a different matter) patent wise.

There's more to that comment, too:

The Launch Pro is going to be great based on everything I know so far. Really not to be compared to the R10 though. The R10 as good of a value for outdoor range tool as it possibly might be, it is not going to suffice for most sim users. It does no putting, and the spin is calculated from estimated club data. As much as this might do ok sometimes it is going to struggle with gear effect and most likely spin axis overall indoor. I will of course test it when I can to show the actual results but this is just based on specifications they provided. I think for $600, it probably is a very good value for a outdoor range tool still. Launch Pro will have 3 cameras. It is going to measure ball data and club data directly so much more advanced system. Stay tuned as we are going to be covering is as soon as it is ready! 🙂

This unit will apparently:

- "Do" putting

- Measure, not calculate spin

- Measure club data "directly"

I think this is a massively interesting development but I am unsure where it will land.

It will need to be priced close to Skytrak unless it offers significant club data (face and path as a minimum). If it is 3k but doesnt offer additional data then in almost all circumstances Skytrak will be good enough; spend the 1k saving on lessons.

I havent seen software mentioned but this will be critical, as a Skytrak owner for years the Skytrak software is an excellent, mature, feature rich product. Combined with acceptable accuracy this is incredibly hard to beat.

What I would like is a 2-3k personal device which measures ball and club running fsx, but why would they do that when they can charge 15k+ already? I fear it could emerge as a 3-5k personal device which measures ball data only and runs bespoke software produced by Bushnell...

I have no idea what it will offer for data but keep in mind everyone's different and it's about more than the upfront cost.  I'd easily pay $1k more up front if it allowed me to avoid the subscriptions costs that you're saddled with using Skytrack.   (That is, if I didn't already have the units I already own).

Notice that they say, "Tour Level Accuracy FOR ALL". This suggests a reasonable price point.

I've mentioned this earlier ITT, but this is clearly a sub 1000 dollar device. No chance that it would be more expensive than Skytrak, they wouldn't sell any.

10 times out of 10 I would choose GC2 like accuracy over a skytrak even if it were $2k more expensive.  I have hit on skytrak plenty and found it to be incredibly inaccurate.  I don't trust the ball data and certainly wouldn't trust the club data provided.  I haven't owned one so I am not sure if that can be improved upon.  Main reason being I found it to not really be worth a $2k investment.  Foresight ball data indoors is unrivaled.  To me, that alone would make it worth more $$ to me than a skytrak.

I will eat my words if it comes out otherwise but I think you are massively mistaken. My guess is this is somewhere in the neighborhood of $5,000 to $8,000 and includes all major swing parameters. I expect it will ship without FSX and will use proprietary software of some sort. Just the components, size, and shape of the device alone suggests it will easily eclipse $2,000 to $3,000.

I agree - no way this comes in under $1k

Someone on reddit made a post about trying to part together and program their own rudimentary launch monitor. The wholesale price for the high speed cameras like GC2 and Skytrak use was $200-300 a piece. This LM has three of them. There's not a chance in hell of this coming in at under $1000.

Where are you getting the 3 camera information from?

I'm guessing it's going to come in at around $4k, which is the price point of the new Full Swing LM. What I'm really curious about though if it prompts Flightscope to unlock the Mevo+. There's a lot of conjecture that the Mevo+ can capture club head data with the same technology of its bigger brothers, but Flightscope kept it locked to keep a feature point for the Xi and beyond. If Flightscope sees a competitive advantage though they might unlock the Mevo+ or rebrand a new midrange device or upgrade software package for it to compete against the Bushnell.

Not necessarily… it might use the old Vector Pro principle of two or three normal “slow single frame” cameras pointed slightly differently to get the ball data, and a cheap radar for CHS which is all it’s promising atm.

Just found this online. With 3 cameras, you'd guess some clubhead data.

Agree that this isn't going to be any lower than 5k

I was holding out from buying a Mevo+ but no now my hopes are slowly dashing. I still hope it can compete with the Fullswing Kit at $4k. If so, I'm still in. But we still don't know how compatible this will be with current sim software. If this requires some form of FSX software...forget it.

Surprised to see the high cost estimates, using ‘wholesale’ prices for high speed cameras doesn’t get you near the calculation. These will have ‘high speed’ cameras, it will have standard enough camera sensors with the firmware and software from foresight than makes sense of the data.

they are leaking it early to try to affect R10 sales and are marketing it as a monitor for everyone, it needs to be in 1-2k range for that even to be close to a reasonable statement. Any more than that and why partner with a big player like bushnell?

I’m the exact market they are looking at, r10 interesting. Would pay up to about double for this, mostly to be able to use it easier on the range and on the course and get better data. Indoor and sim stuff meaningless for me.
