Milled fang-style putters

Trying to come up with my next putter. Narrowed down to a fang style, mid/full mallet, with a full milled face and softer feel (think carbon or insert feel). Being in rural Europe, I don’t have many options to try different putters out, so taking my best guess and need some feedback. Buddy has an Odyssey #7 which feels awesome except not a fan of inserts. The Special Select Squareback I have feels too light with the stock 10 g’s, while my Bettinardi SS28 (358g) feels closer to weight preference.

Anyone tried these or have other recommendations? Would be a big fan of the ER5 but not being fully grooved across the face is less appealing to my eye.

Well, first off the ER5 would be my pick of your options given what you asked. It's one of the putters in my gamer-rotation, and frankly, the best one (especially in 370grams w/ the Evnroll Gravity Grip) 

 

BUT the putter that it sounds like you're describing (which is missing from this list) is the Mizuno M Craft VI. That one feels fantastic, and actually comes with a weight kit so you can add/remove weight to dial in exactly what you want.

The Las Vegas H7 has been in my bag for all 2020 and all 2021 so far.  Longest run for a putter in the bag for me. Bought and sold over 50 putters and keep trying more but non has beat it out so far

Piretti Savona, they have a few options for neck, alignment and if you want weights or not.

The Scotty’s (though they are multi-piece) and the Las Vegas are the obvious answers here, with the ER5 being a very honorable mention. Mizuno as a sleeper. I’ve rolled some putts with them and it’s a legit putter.

I have Mizuno love it comes with three weight sets so you can adjust the weight and feel. Great feel

The Toulon Las Vegas, and also Portland are very solid.  I found them to have a soft feel, which I prefer, due to the deep milling.  Solid putter for sure.

Just ordered a Sub 70 004 Mallet putter a few weeks ago. Waiting for it to arrive. You have options on their website to customize and can also call and talk with one of their reps. Putter also comes with weight kit. Can't wait to get mine and give it a try. I've used a buddies and really liked the feel

I have the Las Vegas H7. Been in my bag since I started playing last year. It's been a great performer, nice soft feel and the fangs really help with alignment. I've recently swapped it out, but only because I've come to realize I slightly prefer double wide blades, the putter is still fantastic and will have a spot in my stable unless I have it shortened for my girlfriend.

Price is pretty variable depending on finish. Starting at 900, can easily get to 1400 if you're doing something like a mirrored blueish steel. It's a bucket list putter for me. Would love to one day take a trip out there, do a putter and wedge fitting and get something designed in person. It's an extremely small shop so the prices are steep, but I've heard nothing but amazing things about the clubs and the experience.

Sub 70 have a great looking one, and heavy head too.

My new Sub70 004 Sycamore has just arrived 

 

It looks awesome.  Black KBS shaft, adjustable weights, milled and only £129 delivered.  That's a fantastic price. 

I'll give it a roll against my Cleveland 11 this weekend and give my thoughts on it. But at first glance it looks excellent.

I know you said milled. But try out the Ardmore. Not too big but not small fits right in there as a “middle” sized mallet. Just a suggestion

Looks nice and the 1045 carbon steel sounds intriguing. Face balanced isn’t really for my putting stroke but I’ll be curious what you think of it!
