Srixon Zx7 short irons

Can anyone here speak to the ZX7 short irons control/ spin/ consistency, especially compared to blades? I'm pretty used to blades in the short iron and really love the consistency with no extra speed. 

 

When I tried the 7 iron in the zx7 it felt like it had a slight extra boost off the face than I expected. It also seems to be slightly lower spin. Both decent traits for the mid and long irons, but for the 8 iron on down I really value the dull/consistent performance.

 

Can anyone compare the zx7 short irons to the Zforged or otherwise? Obviously I could always try to combo the zforged into the short irons, but seems maybe a little unnecessary to combo 3 irons in one set (zforged, zx7, zx5). So hopefully the zx7’s are a little more dead and controlled in the short irons since they don't have the tungsten?

If you're used to hitting blades and hit them well enough to notice spin/yardage consistency, I would think you'd be fine w/ a zx7/zForged combo. I wouldn't bother bringing in the zx5 at the higher end unless you're talking like 4 iron.

Thanks, I wasn't sure if the short irons for the zx7/zforged compares more to a combo like p7mb/ p7mc or an Apex mb/Apex pro type combo.   With both clubs in the p7mb/ p7mc both having less "pop", vs the bigger contrast of an apex mb/ apex pro being a blade and a players' distance club that's meant to have some speed.

The ZX7 AW is essentially a blade, doubt there is much difference between that and the zforged. I haven't compared the ZX7 to blades, but have hit it along with ZX5, i210, and Apex 21. Distance and spin seemed comparable with the i210 but I prefer the zx7 (mostly due to narrower sole). I don't feel like I get hot fliers with the zx7 but ymmv.

Update: I received my irons. And love the zx7 pw. For anyone that hasn’t seen it in person, it does have a little more blade length than the typical blade (but so does current z forged). However the top line looks good to me, and most importantly the speed off the face is spot on with what I hoped. 
 

ive been burned in the past with “hotter” pitching wedges but this one is pretty normal and very reliable. It’s just more forgiving than a typical blade on errant strikes, which is exactly what you want. And unexpectedly, I also like it for chipping which I’ve never said before of an iron. 
 

Although, like a true wrx’r I might be rethinking my love affair in January when we see the new z forged. 😂

I play the ZX7 8-pw and I also love the pw. Towards the end of the season I started using the pw for chipping and now use it all the time. I wish Cleveland made wedges with the same sole as the ZX7 pw.

I bought the zx7 A wedge and it has the same sole as the irons.  It's 51 degrees but might be worth checking out.  I'm really enjoying it.

Great to know. Right now I have a 48* sm6 Vokey wedge, and was contemplating replacing the wedges with the zipcores, but I could just add an AW and zip cores. Lots to think about.
