How do you feel about opposite field events?

Golf Channel host seem to think that there shouldn't be an event opposite the Korn Ferry Championship. I personally think that the tour should have as many events as possible and it's up to the players to pick and choose. To me there's no such thing as too many tournaments......I love having multiple events to choose from on my tV.... I personally think that there should be an opposite event of the Ryder Cup ....Just joking, that'll never happen.

The storylines from last week during the KFT tour champ trump anything going on in East Lake.

If the idea is to put eyes on the KF 'ship then yeah, no opposite field and write into either CBS or NBC contract that they must air the KF ship as though it was a Tour event.

If you are saying you don't want people to have to choose whether they are playing in the KF Ship or going to be an "also ran" in a tour event, you have lost me.  A) I don't think that is possible/plausible B) if possible you would always take the Tour event in the off chance you made the cut, the cash is much higher.

As an aside, I have heard that the level of golf on the KF Tour is absolutely phenomenal and if you are thinking of it in terms of minor league, it is the closest of any league to the level of competition and skill of it's highest level league.

I agree, I love watching the KFT. Shane bacon was saying that there shouldn't be a tournament opposite the KFT Championship.. I simply disagree with that.

For all the events that we don’t get to be on TV, the tour champ should be shown on its own or at the very least in a non tape delay slot.

People really do not realize what transpires over the course of the week during the tour champ. It’s a life changing week for guys like Justin Lower who had to make an up/down on the last hole on Sunday to get his first PGA tour card since turning pro 11 years ago.

There have been events opposite the Ryder Cup.  Sanderson Farms was held the same week as the Ryder Cup and President Cup for a few years.

I think it’s pretty silly of them to have an opposite field event opposite one of their own events. It’s probably only a little less silly to have them opposite events they don’t have a stake in like the Majors because seriously who’s going to watch the opposite field event while the Masters is on? But at least it’s not competing with themselves.

More playing opportunities.  More guys making money at this game.

Why do people act like there is some sanctity of the tour or whatever being violated?  If the market will bear it, what is the problem?

What is going on in people's lives that they want to say "you shouldn't get a chance to win an event because I don't like the field strength"?

Sounds like viewer arrogance to me ....... Keep  an eye on Chris   Gotterup.....next tiger woods. Just a couple  of years ago we were watching Collin M. and Vik H. in college.

Full disclosure, I'm not really watching it due to other interests being of greater interest.  But that said, I don't understand why people are against more players having opportunities.

I used to think hockey and baseball's hall of fames were a big deal.  Then a couple of summers ago, a guy got in, and there was discussion as to whether he was "worthy."  The reporter they were talking to put it this way : "with everything going on in the world, are we really going to spend time and energy on this.  Can't we just be happy someone has some good news in their life?"  And it hit me:  that crap doesn't matter.  Same thing here.  If a "weaker" event is taking place, and guys can make money at this, who is it hurting?

Well, on this site you have people that hate everything and everybody, including themselves......LOL!

Shoutout to my jersey guy Chris Gotterup. Hopefully he wins or comes close, might shake up stuff down the road for everyone.

If they're going to do an opposite field event, they should have more younger/college guys like Gotterup in the field. I mean, they could could have the makings of another star on their hands, vs some older guys in the field, like a Chris Couch. If Couch wins, (I think he's missing the cut haven't looked yet), does it really benefit the tour in a huge way? (just as an example, nothing against Chris Couch)

I don't watch them

but I like them because they often vault a good player on the cusp into the mainstream. How many of the young guns locked up a card due to some off-field event.

Sure you could argue many would have made it anyway but timing in golf can be everything and I can think of a few players who have used the opportunity to springboard their career and ride a hot hand.

Ping 425 Max Tour Shaft X 75g

TSI 4 Wood (3 wood smoke shaft)

500U 3 Iron Smoke 80g
712U 4 Iron
714CB 5-6
718MB 7-PW
Vokey SM9 50, 55, 60
SC Newport 2.5

I was thinking they have opposite field events for majors and WGC events, things you basically have to qualify for.

Sometimes the broadcast times don't interfere with one another.  I recall watching some event in bermuda or puerto rico (don't recall well apparently) that was against WGC mexico or something and the timing of the final round broadcast was such you could watch both events and not overlap.

The players are the tour(or so we've been told many times recently), so it's not about having events or winners that benefit the tour, it's about benefiting the players.  If Chris Couch wins, it's because he played the best.  If a "rising star" is in the field, he should beat him.

The tour runs events for its members.  Are there "younger college guys" members of the tour?

I get your point, on one hand, members should have priority.

Its kind of like if you had Country Club A and Country Club B. I'm not saying Country Club A should tell their members they can't play because they are trying to get potential new members to come play. What i'm saying is, if Country Club B is hosting Country Club A for the day, why not let some new members come to Country Club A for the day.

The Tour needs to backfill in some way, I know they have qualify and everything. I'm not saying every week, but its an oppose field event. Again, not saying it should be a showcase for college golfer/Korn Ferry, Frank Lickliter hasn't made a cut since 2015-16 season, Ryuji Imada has played in 1 tour event (2021 Zozo) since 2014-2015, Chris Couch has played in 11 events since 2012.

If they are members at CC A, wouldn't they be at CC B where they are being hosted?  What you are actually saying is why not let non-members who haven't paid initiation or dues make it a public course for the day.

As to your second paragraph, winning on tour does carry benefits.

They’ve already started the PGA University where the top 5 college players once their season ends automatically start playing on the KFT.

6-15 get some type of Latin or Canadian status and Gotterup is 16th (currently). Not sure if this finish will change his ranking or if it’s just college base events

They should 100% fill these events with the current KFT money list leaders
