If the RC went away, the click count on WRX would go down and the advertising rates would fall.  That would trigger lower sales of golf stuff and predictions that golf in the US was in a big slump.  Courses would close due to fewer rounds being played and the only major left would be the Masters because ANGC doesn't need our money.

It's an exhibition match. Like other sports (NHL, NBA, NFL) it is an All-Star game. It generates revenue. The world would move on and I'm sure there are many pro golfers who would welcome it (and no longer feel obligated to participate).

Agreed 100%.....For the Euros it's a passion because the Ryder Cup saved the European Tour (according to Faldo) but for the Americans it has become an obligation. Eventually the participants will be compensated for their efforts....then watch what happens.

They can get rid of the Olympics, only reason it was brought back was because they thought they could cash in on Tiger.

 

If they want to keep golf in the Olympics then really mix it up. Each country can only send 4 maybe 6 people. 

Each team is made up of a man and a woman. Play alt shot or something along with maybe Stableford scoring. Olympic golf as is, is boring and no different than what we see every week with the same players

Not having the Ryder Cup would be a major hemhorrage on the budget of the PGA of America, as well as its European counterpart.  Its not going anywhere. 

 

Its perfect silly-season fodder for the stars of the game that helps end the season in a good way.

There isn't a single pro sporting event that if canceled would impact my life adversely one bit. 

 

Now given that, I'd rather see the FedEx Cup plowed under and move out the PGA Championship back to August.

While i don't often drink Yuenling I don't mind it at all. Definitely over the big brands like Bud etc. 

 

Problem is, most the beer I drink a can costs as much as a six-pack of Yuenling 🙂

Yup.  I've been called names for saying that if the organizers thought a "lefties vs righties" format would bring in more money, you would see that change.  

 

The money is the reason it isn't going to go away.  Very few people's lives would be seriously affected. Some players, and a few suits who need these events to give them the opportunity to like they are important.  WAGS who would have to actually shop for a fall wardrobe rather than have it given to them.  

 

Oh, and the port-a-potty contractors would lose a lot of business.  It would be a crappy thing to do to them.
