Fairway wood shaft weight question?

So I play an LA Golf Oylss S 65g in my Mavrik SZ driver and a HZRDUS Smoke Blue rdx 60 6.0S in my Tsi3 3 wood. I was fit at club champion by two different fitters. My driver is great, love it. My 3 wood seems to hook wildly on me and feels whippy.

 

This made me pick up a TSi2 5 wood with a HZRDUS Smoke black rdx 70 6.0S. I wasn't sure if it was the club head or the shaft, but wanted to compare. I had never owned or hit a 5 wood in all my years playing this game.

 

I noticed both fairway woods got about the distance the respective clubs should get for me, 235 (3 wood) 215-225 (5 wood). But the 5 wood never hooked. 

 

I just ordered a HZRDUS Smoke black rdx 70 6.0S for my 3 wood to see if the shaft is the culprit. Could there be a valid reason why I was fit into a 60g 3 wood shaft that is lighter than my driver? 

 

FWIW, currently a 3.3 index but this site has opened my eyes to all the equipment options I never knew existed. Neither did my bank account LOL.

It's pretty unusual these days to have a FWY shaft lighter than what's in the driver. Not sure why he would have fit it that way.

Either

 

The fitter fit you for maximum distance rather than dispersion. It’s an easier sell to point to the Total Distance column and declare victory.

 

Or

 

After you hit 30 3 woods in a row, you’re so grooved into the mechanics that you can hit pretty much any shaft.

 

Or both.

 

My experience has been that many fittings fail because the individual club may work well in a singular club vacuum, but when integrated into an existing set can fail rather spectacularly.

I'm leaning towards number 1.  If that was the case, then I could see why the fitter went that route however, we all know that distance isn't priority number 1 with fairway metal but rather, distance control, tight dispersion and good launch and spin numbers both off the tee and deck.  OP, the RDX Black is a low/low shaft which is pretty stout.  That type of profile tends to be a bit more anti-left compared to the RDX Blue which I believe plays softer overall at the same weight and flex but more so in the tip area.  Tip stiff shafts tend to fit me better as my miss is the big sweeping hook.

I’m thinking #1 as well.  When I got fit, I didn’t know anything about these LM stats. Good to know about the black. Really hoping this fixes my issue. It’s the only club I cringe when pulling out of the bag at this point because of the hook tendency OB (use my fairway woods almost exclusively off the deck)

Rule of thumb

- For WOODS we need 3.5 to 5 grams higher uncut wgt pr inch shorter to maintain the same feel of weight or actual resistance.

If play length difference from driver to 3W is 2 inches, that means 7 to 10 grams UP in uncut weight.
