Proper Ulnar Deviation for shaft lean

I don't start too many threads but this YT really resonated with me.  I have always had issues with adding presented loft on full swings.  Especially more lofted clubs.

I have been starting my down swing with Ulnar Deviation to 8 O'clock for a while but ignored this component.

Not just Ulnar Deviation but Ulnar Deviation in a direction that keeps the trail wrist extended.  This immediately took about 10 degrees off my full PW doing nothing else.  It feels phenomenal. YMMV but just had to share:

I may be going mad but he is literally ulnar deviating to 8 o’clock. How did you do this to 8 before and not keep the right wrist bent?

It wasn't easy but if it can be done wrong that's how I'll do it.

I think I got there by over running my arm swing and getting too deep/forcing it.

This doesn't feel nearly so forced as when I would deviate with a nearly flat trail wrist to 8 O'clock.

I have struggled with shallowing also and that has improved doing this.

Its a good move but I tend to do exactly as he says which dumps me way under.

Sounds like you moving your arms to 8 not the wrists

I'm sure you are correct but now the club head stays behind my hands at P6 with arms moving to something closer to 7 O'clock.   The trail wrist extension moves the club head to 8 O'clock now.

I do concentrate on keeping my lead shoulder down as long as possible and that keeps me from dumping under.

As you’re as mad as me:-) look at that from the video which is a huge exaggeration. Club to 8 forearm to 5. Stop right there and pull your left shoulder away from target line perfect p6.

My body likes to help me out with the cast right shoulder down arms down not forward, dump city.

Basically your forearm and wrist have to work in opposite directions, hard for me to do tbh.

The golf swing is an amazing, curious thing. The action described here would get me even more under the plane and stuck than I have been. I need to feel more of a Malaska tipping out of the shaft.

Stupid game. haha

Ulnar deviation is needed if someone is chopping down on a log with an ax. The golf ball isn't on a vertical plane it's on a inclined plane. All the superfluous twisting and forearm rotation can't be good in a golfswing.

Even though I don't subscribe to Malaska's technique I think his concept of applying energy to a golf ball is ahead of the other stuff that's out there.

I used to have the same issue. The solution for me was to address my slide and axis tilt. The shallowing has to come from the wrists and arms, not from the spine tilting away from the target.

Every golfer MUST  ulnar deviate moving towards impact or else the club head will NOT reach the ground.

But this  ulnar deviation happens LATE in the downswing, NOT EARLY   as illustrated in the graphs taken from Phil Cheethams thesis -1st still. Similar numbers are generated from the” HackMotion Wrist Sensor”

Jack Nicklaus has been quoted on Golfwrx that he could  not release too soon , a statement which would add credence to early ulnar deviation .BUT this statement has been cited out of context . The below clarification by Tyler Ferrell about getting to his left side first is needed.
