That would be one (long) way to do it

It took me 44.32 seconds to know what prices were for Monday and actually have three suppliers identified.  I guess there is some academic interest, but it's not that hard to find out ticket prices for most events.

You have whatever strategy fits your unique situation and go from there.  Then again, I don't track stats much when playing golf so there you are, lol.

It was coach K’s last game at Cameron, but still.

Absolutely LOVED that they lost as 11 point favorites. I was surprised Coach K didn't fake another back injury to keep that loss off his record. 😁

I’m a Duke fan. Have been for a long time. But I also have thought Coach K hasn’t been as good lately the last few years.

Carolina played so well in the second half. And did it without any substitutions! I’m guessing that play won’t carry over to this week.

Carolina had everything to play for and it was a lot of pressure to put on Duke's young team, to be fair. I will save all my Coach K hate for another day, he's the most famous college basketball coach of my lifetime (wasn't alive for Wooden) and that will be tough to replace.

My son and I get tickets quite often through online sites. My son has it dialed in. He gets his tickets from the parking lot of the event right before it starts most of the time. That said, these aren’t sold out events. Not all these tix come from “scalpers”. For sporting events quite a few are season ticket holders that aren’t going to be attending. Right before the game starts they drop the prices to almost nothing because $8-$20 beats nothing! He’s gone to countless Angel games for ~$8. These re-sellers on the online sites start their prices high and adjust based on movement. That goes for hard to get events as well. Takes 2 seconds for them to go on and adjust their prices.

This is almost certainly because the Angels suck.

Half of his success could be attributed to the fact he typically had guys for four years(whether it was cause they really weren't good enough to jump, or were rich and the money didn't mean as much, or really were serious students is up for debate), and if you are decent at your job, you can usually get a group of really good 22 year olds to outplay hyper talented 18 year olds for a game.  They got away from that and went for the one and dones like the other schools, and gave away that advantage.

My take on it anyway.  Not a fan of anything to do with them, so that might be more negative than it is meant, but the way I see it.

Way off topic but this seems like a horribly unaware take. Unimaginably bad. Duke in the 80s and early 90s wasn’t sending out veteran dominated teams against other teams starting a bunch of young guys. In those days almost all good teams were veteran teams. (Yes I know about the fab 5 and I’m aware they got pounded by a veteran Duke team.) People use to stay 4 years regardless of how good they were. Yes, I know there are exceptions to everything but people didn’t commonly leave early like they do now.

In the mid 90s and early 2000s that all changed. Guys started going from high school to the pros and it became common for guys to leave college early.

If guys stay 4 years now it’s typically because they don’t have much interest from the league and stay in school for longer. Obviously it didn’t use to be that way.

To further prove the point, take a look at the top picks from the 80s. One and done did not happen like it does now. The idea that any of these guys stayed 4 years because they weren’t good enough, had rich families, or were serious students is laughable. Ps, the list of guys in didnt include below was very good and almost all 4 year players.

82- James Worthy 3 years

83- Ralph Sampson 4 years. Arguably too 5 best college basketball player ever.
84-Hakeem Olajuwon 4 years

85 Patrick Ewing 4 years

87 David Robinson 4 years

90 Derrick Coleman 4 years

My opinion, which no body asked for, is that guys started leaving early when the money became so large that it didn’t make any sense to stay in school. I’m not saying players in the 70s- early 90s were poor by any means but the money wasn’t anything like it is today. You can sign a guarantee and take care of your entire family and any potential kids before ever playing a game. That’s salary money, we won’t even get into the value of an endorsement deal.

I just can't get past the fact Izzo claims to have players best interest's at heart, yet he is in the only job on the planet that someone can basically get in another man's face with a look like he will burst a blood vessel and not see any repercussions for it.

To a certain degree, I think coaching is overrated in that sport.  Not completely, it's important.  But being a recruiter is far more important than being a game planner or skill developer.  The talent is what matters.

100 % spot on.  I always said that old Duke and UNC for that matter was dominant because they kept guys for 4 years. A team of seniors will beat ANY team of freshmen more often than not. And it used to be normal for them to have 3/4 seniors starting at least.

Not sure on that one.  A great coach builds men /women first.  Players as a secondary act.  Winning comes after self respect ( not inflated ego ) is achieved …. Loads of these kids do not have a male role model ( speaking from a male perspective because it’s what I know ) and a great coach can be the difference maker in their life.

not wanting to argue. At all. But. As a kid who needed loads of guidance , especially on channeling my anger towards my situation , I had a couple Great  teachers snd coaches that were literally essential to my survival.  And it was alwasy the ones who used love to explain why the disciplinary measures were strict .  The why is what makes the difference.  This includes getting in your face and shaking you , if need be.  A big young man takes a heavy hand to guide.

i guess I just believe that it takes it all. Recruiting is Uber important…. But  I’ve been on well coached teams of underdogs , and we beat the snot out of a lot of stacked teams , and we did it with hustle and disciplined approach.

From another thread, ticket office confirms that tickets will be shipped via UPS March 11-16, and that we will get an e-mail with UPS tracking info

I believe the thread was this one, three posts above yours 🙂. Also seeing on reddit that at least one person has received their tickets.

I get what you are saying, but I also think that the impacts you mention need to happen earlier than when a guy gets to college, and also, there is a difference between being a strict disciplinarian, and getting into a guy's face.  I mean, what the hell is this:

image.png.56e811b6c878bf1e7c1fbc1055b5a398.png

Did he punch a player?  Deliberately injure someone?  That is simply a guy who is in a position of power who knows that the player can't do anything.

And once again, the player is a grown man.  Why doesn't Izzo get the Bobby Knight treatment?  Seriously, what is the difference between the two?  Chairs have remained still in Izzo's career?

I don't know, I get the part about male role model, but if that is going to be the model, is it really worth it?

Numbers are going the wrong way 😞

- Buyers paying record high prices? (Duh)

- Sellers pulling their listings?

- David Feherty effect; saying Tiger will play the Masters? 🙂

- Where are the tickets?!?!?

An alternative to Stubhub, I used this outfit last year for the PGA @ Kiawah and the Ryder Cup, www.onlocationexp.com

They were the "official reseller" for those 2 events and obviously had a connection and could guarantee the tickets and transfer them electronically thru their site.  I see they have a Masters site with practice and tournament tickets, and hospitality across the street.  Doesn't look to have a direct connection or "official reseller" arrangement, but they were good for the two events last year.  Monday low is currently $1,134 (plus fees) with hospitality (don't know useful that is with the 2-in policy), but an option to keep track of.
