Question. I bought Mon & Tues on SH. What exactly is the "hospitality" tickets thats available for like $300.. I know its food and open bar, but what is it all about? Do you need a tix for that day? Thank you.

No course ticket needed.  Sold directly from Stubhub (not a listing from some random seller like all other listings) and I think they drop the price as the day gets close.  Rented house/venue/lot just outside the back gate.  I wouldn't spend a second in there if I had a badge to get onto the course; would spend the $300 inside the course instead.

If I buy from Stubhub can someone remind me how pickup works? Would they ship or do I need to goto the in person Stubhub location in Augusta?

Looking at Wednesday tickets and curious how I would pickup. If it was same day, I’d like to be there as early as possible.

The tickets are sent to your address using UPS via a shipping label that Stubhub provides to the seller. Turnaround time is a couple of days if the person ships right away.

You can call Stubhub support if the shipping looks super close in terms of timing and they will contact the seller to see if they can expedite the shipping.

StubHub will have a “last minute services” address at a nearby hotel for late purchases. The cutoff will come up soon.

Same house they've always used, near the parking lot and back entrance, it's in the link in the 2nd post in this thread.  Can confirm by selecting a tournament round listing on Stubhb, hit CHECKOUT, but don't complete the checkout.

Maybe so.  At face value for sure.  But I’m just not convinced at $2k a pop.  Or near that.  Tv quality is too good . At any rate. I still hope to get picked one day and see the place.  At this point I have a sneaking suspicion that it will be a letdown anyway. With this much buildup , I’d be shocked if it left me satisfied.  But I’d be happy to be wrong.  At any rate. I’m not paying scalpers prices to find out , especially in today’s economy.

You will not be disappointed the first time ... or even the 5th time like for me this year. This will be my 1st Sunday. Have always attended Thurs-Sat. Do it, at least once, even at 2k ( which is cheap lol ) you will enjoy it.

Eh. I appreciate the thought. But I doubt it.  Consumables in that price range are like holding a snake to some people.  Makes my skin crawl.    But it’s literally out of the question in this economy. Likely be several years before it’s even a thought I consider.  Most likely never.

Just wanna say thanks to everyone especially dmbolp for all the info about tickets. This will be my first trip to the Masters. Tried the so called lottery for 4 years. I know prices are high, but I wanna enjoy while I can still get around, walk and enjoy. You never know what the future brings. Now just waiting and hoping my UPS delivery shows up.

Why the hatred of paying more than face value?  Many other limited goods get priced on supply/demand.

I never really understood the anger towards the scalpers.  It’s the public that sets the market in the end.

It's because they really don't provide anything of value. They don't own the venue or put on the event, they just got a ticket you weren't able to get. Ideally ANGC would price tickets accordingly to what they are worth but they would be seen as greedy so a middleman is allowed to be in place.

If that were the case then it would just cater to the people that can afford those prices. At least the way it is now, average joe's have a shot at the lottery. I was fortunate enough to win this year (well actually 2020) and know a few others that have been fortunate to win them, all of which wouldn't pay $1K+ per ticket to go. And there would still be a market for resale tickets, the price would be even higher than it is.

Eh. I appreciate the thought. But I doubt it.  Consumables in that price range are like holding a snake to some people.  Makes my skin crawl.    But it’s literally out of the question in this economy. Likely be several years before it’s even a thought I consider.  Most likely never.

Don't forget you are there from 8 am to 8 pm ... so it is an all day event ( over 25k step too lol, so you get a great work out to boot ).

It's because they really don't provide anything of value. They don't own the venue or put on the event, they just got a ticket you weren't able to get. Ideally ANGC would price tickets accordingly to what they are worth but they would be seen as greedy so a middleman is allowed to be in place.

How do they not provide value?

I've been able to attend events that I otherwise wouldn't if there were no marketplace for tickets.

I'm cheap, so I almost always pay way under face value to attend events.  Just saw "The Lehman Trilogy" in LA for $25, orchestra seats, for example.  Excellent play, FWIW.

Without "scalpers", I could never have attended that show for under $100.

Or when I went to England a few years ago and wanted to attend some soccer games...how am I supposed to get tickets for a sold out match?  I don't know season ticket holders.

Also, I'm not sure how ANGC pricing their tickets at "market value" would benefit the public.  The Rolling Stones toured a few years back...90% of the decent seats were $600+, effectively taking out the middleman, and they sold out.   How did that help me?!?

I have access to 4 tickets to wednesday, if the average sell on stub hub is 1000 each, how much would stub hub pay me for all four? approx. I don't have an account and I'm heading off to work any body know the answer?

You'd get about $850 or so per ticket. Just checked and that is what it calculated for me.

This^

I am about 0-for-12 in the Masters ticket lottery, but I've been able to attend twice thanks to the second hand market (practice rounds in 2014 and 2016).

Without scalpers, I wouldn't have been able to attend and create the experiences and the memories that I did. The second time I went I did so with my lifelong best friend, and he was able to bring his dad along who was in his 70s and had been a golf fan his whole life and had never set foot on the grounds before. I thought his dad was about to cry when we got to Amen Corner. Amazing day that I'll remember forever, and it was all possible because of the second-hand market. If the lottery was my only shot at a ticket, none of it would have been possible up to this point.

That is absolutely providing something of value. It's providing opportunity. I'm grateful for the scalpers because they open up doors for those of us who have no luck in the lottery. Does it suck paying the second-hand prices? Sure. But at least the opportunity to get a ticket is there. You can choose to either pay or not pay. But without a second-hand market, the door is slammed shut on most of us.

"Ideally Augusta would just price the tickets according to what they are worth." Why?  So the lottery can then be both hard to win AND expensive? At least the way it is now the tickets are pretty cheap if you do win the lottery. And like another poster said, increasing the face value would only increase the second-hand value even more.

Question for those who have attended in the last couple of years. I remember a few years ago there was a lot of chatter about Augusta starting to crack down on the second-hand market a little by requiring a photo ID that matched the name of the original owner or whatever. I haven't paid much attention to it lately as I haven't attempted to go since I last went in 2016. But I'm targeting 2023 to be my third trip there and was wondering about all these crackdown measures.

I haven't read all the way through this thread, but upon a quick glance it appears people are not having any issues. What's the latest on any of these crackdown efforts? Are there any new hoops to jump through? Did any of that name-matching stuff come to fruition? The previous times I went it was as simple as me handing the person cash, they handed me a ticket and I was off to the races. Is it still that simple?
