4 iron and the putter came in today.  
 

It’s been a minute since I’ve check my lies and I figured I might as well since I just had the Artisans adjusted to the same specs I’ve played since college 7 years ago now.   Pardon the toe jobs on the wedge.  I know this is wrx and I’m not suppose to ever miss the middle.  I apologize… please don’t ban me. 
 

Thankfully the folded up launch chair swing hasn’t changed according to the sharpie.

John said it was the first he’s ever seen.  I explained to him when I was hearing the sound.  He said he hit about 100 putts with it and agreed there was something in the head that was making it have a different sound and feel depending where it was struck.  
 

He pulled the shaft, neck out of the head and inspected it.  He replaced the neck and re epoxied everything and kept it another day to make sure he was happy with it.  He’s guessing it was a void in the epoxy in the neck

Always great to hear a brand stand behind their work and quality. Hopefully his assumption is correct and no issues from here on out.

We’ll find out tomorrow.  I’ll go hit some long lags at lunch at the course down the street.  He gave me some grief about the wear spot on the face which was funny

So good grief then which isn't a bad thing. Should send him updates as the mark gets better over time.

Snuck one more round in before the snow flew here.  Played a course I’d never played to close the year out,  super narrow, OB on nearly every hole, zero flat lies and every green was triple teared and three putt-able if you left it in the wrong spot. 
 

Managed a round of two under with an eagle and three birdies.  Artisans felt great, had some junk swings as to be expected but they were nice to swing. Pulled a four iron into the drink on 9 making the “smart play” but that was the only major mental midget moment of the round.  Driver was really good and the putter was solid for most the day with the exception of one three putt on a circus green/pin placement. 
 

They have a 630 yard par 5 with a blind tee ball on the back that I hit a 5 wood to about 3 feet from 290 out which left me speechless.  Don’t worry I choked the putt on the low side.  The eagle I made was about a 8 foot right to left breaker from 40 feet - stupid lucky it dropped. 
 

6 grams of hot melt was the lucky number in the 3 and 5 wood heads.  They feel and sound amazing.  
 

I’m about due for a new 54* head as I’m about through the copper on the face and it’s got some pretty deep nicks in the contact area.  I’m going to stick with the T22 copper… love how they look and feel.  I may go to a little less bounce this time around if I can find one. 
 

Other than the wedge I think I’m going to grab a Ghost Golf bag.  The 7 way top is what I’ve always wanted and now that I snagged a push cart I hardly ever carry unless it’s a par 3 course.

Just ordered ferrules for them and got them dry weighted all to D3.  
 

John from Artisan called me and let me know I’m not an idiot - the putter definitely has a spot that makes a significantly diff sound versus the rest of the head.  He’s pulling the neck out now and looking deeper into it.  

I'm obsessed with these... Seeing them more and more and can't wait to take them for a spin.

Couple updates.  

 

New bag for the year from ghost golf

 

Updated a few putters to black lagp’s and found some super hard to find 7.0 blackout wedge shafts to do Howard’s spinner trick this year.   Going all Lamkin UTX this year for grips - I really like how tacky they are with a cord.

Yeah I’ve had a few sets of multicompounds from golf pride that almost dry rotted and started to split.  Buddy of mine on here suggested I try the UTX’s and I like them so far.  The UTX’s are harder to pull if you double sided tape and solvent install… that’s the only downside I’ve seen with them.  The inner material on the UTX seems to bond heavily to the tape and is tougher to get to pull clean without leaving a bunch of tape on the inside of the grip.

Went and got on a quad with the 8 iron shafts and realized I’m an idiot and bought the wrong shafts.  Spin was down and launch was essentially same to the 6.5 wedge shafts I replaced.  Ordered the correct shafts last night…. Reading comprehension eluded me.

Spring putting grind has sprung.  Nice to be off the putting mat and out on real grass.

Oh man it's so good to roll on grass again, I spent like 20-30min before my round on the weekend rolling putts until my tee time came up.

Getting out for my second round before I head to Arizona for a three day tournament.   Played really well last week even though I didn’t find the middle of an iron until 16.  Artisans are plenty forgiving thankfully.. 
 

Found some magic in my DH89 after re-shafting it.  Paid really close attention to the fit of the shaft in the hosel cup and I guess it paid off, all of the sudden that head and shaft combo feels better than anything I’ve ever rolled.   The lie is a few degrees flatter than I typically play but I hate when a head has camber when soled so I just had it adjusted to where when I sole the putter its stable and doesn’t try to rock open or have the toe shut down.   
 

Snuck in 9 last night and got sent out as a single right behind a local colleges girl team.   They invited me to play with them which was cool of them.  One girl shot a low 30 in some nasty wind.  I was under par and got smoked.

For sure.  Everything around me is about to be punched so I’ll be back on the mat for a month until all that stuff heals

Where I played the greens were punched but like 90% healed so wasn't awful, but I'll be on some nice greens the next few rounds until I get back to the peasant muni's I'm used to playing on.

I definitely find it useful.  The putter head gate just helps keep the stroke clean and gives some feedback when I get lazy.  I don’t always run a chalk line but it’s nice if you can find a straight putt.  I use the stroke gate and a ball gate on breaking putts all the time for speed / start line.

No sir.  I wish I still had the game for that.. I shot one under at Cherry Hills about a month before the U.S. Am.   One of my college teammates caddied in it so that’s where the cover came from.  I followed him around on Friday.  Best chance I would have had for qualifying for something like that was in my prime around my junior year of college.  Those kids are damn good.  Shipley just beat Tiger at Augusta Sunday - I followed him for a bit on Saturday at Cherry Hills.   He’s a stud. 
 

As far as the LA shafts are concerned I’ve commented a ton in the aftermarket putter shaft threads here in the putter forum.   If you have any questions feel free to shoot me a pm… happy to help
