Mic’d the inside bore of the hosel cup and filed the tip of the LAGP down super slowly with a large flat file until I had about a two - three thousandths even gap all the way around.

No where near as consistent as I used to be, depends which of the two current swings I roll out of bed with haha

Went though the Ballnamic fitting just because I was curious what it would recommend.   Put in all my info and preferences and it spit out that the BX Bridgestone was the best ball for me.   Played my first two rounds with it last week and it’s long…. Irons were almost a full club longer than my bxs numbers.  Driver flight was really nice and wedge spin seemed pretty good .

 

Playing on junk sandy aerated greens so I wasn’t banking on any realistic spin behaviors compared to what I’ll see mid summer on good greens off irons and wedges.   It doesn’t feel as nice as the BXS off a putter but I think I can cope.   Dicks had the triple dozen pack deal of the BX’s so I committed.

Played some super inconsistent golf so far in 5 rounds this year.   Finally found some game this morning and shot three under.  My putting has been terrible so I’ve been grinding drills and trying to go back to putting with my eyes and my feet instead of worrying about my stroke mechanics.  Got out this morning at 603 as a single in 65 degree temps and not a breath of wind - played in 3 hours flat walking. 
 

One thing I’ve noticed is I get quite a bit more green side bite from the BX versus the BXS.  It’s taken 4 rounds for me to trust the spin and adjust my landing areas accordingly.   Last round I played before this morning was the best short game showing I’ve had in years as far as spin control so I’m trying to keep that mojo going.  My 54* is wearing out and I’m terrified of swapping it out even for the same head.

Not that I need any more clubs but I found a 3-SW set for 20 bucks and am going for a walk down memory lane.  Shot my first sub par round with a set of these in high school, sold them to a buddy who had his clubs stolen.  Going to try and find a set of 6.5 pulls and put these together for a mess around set. Reshafted the 4 iron and the 5 iron this afternoon with a few spare 6.5 shaft pulls I had laying around. Took the 6 iron to the range this afternoon and they’re still as solid and crisp as I remember.  
 

I’m putting together another set of these for a high schooler that needs a better set but can’t afford one.   Thankfully one of the members here had a set that I’m sending a label for tomorrow.   The kid should be pretty happy when I drop them off to him.

Donated the Apex Plus set last weekend to the high schooler - he was super excited to have a clean set with custom ferrules and proper matching shafts.  He was about in tears which makes it all worth it. 

 

I picked up a hell of a deal on a set of 4-PW KBS TGI 110's that I'm going to throw into a few clubs and swing. 

 

Also picked up a UST Dart 3 Iron 105 F5 Shaft to try in a 3 iron build.   I've wanted to swing this shaft for a while - I never got to swing the previous years recoil but I've heard great things about the new Dart's.   

 

If neither of these graphite options work I'm just going to stick to my 6.5's for the foreseeable future.  There's a few things I've liked about graphite but they've all lacked the dispersion of steel and consistent flight for me.

Took the KBS TGI and the Dart out this afternoon.  

 

The TGI are surprisingly good. - the dart had a decent flight but didn't have a whole lot of feel.   

 

Never cracked a neck before... hit two back to back balls that I thought were struck really well and sounded like I clanked them off the toe.    Took a closer look at the head and saw this hairline crack in the hosel - came home and pulled it apart and verified there is in fact a crack that I can see looking down the bore of the hosel once I got the shaft out.

Shipped off the VR Pro 2-3-4-5 iron heads out to black nitride this morning.  Took the remaining set apart and double checked some things and rebuilt with new BB&F’s.   Happy with out they turned out and I don’t care if no one else likes my pretty ferrules 🤣

 

Built up a set of Hogan FTX heads 2-PW with some KBS TGI 110’s to swing and trial some graphite.   They’re good but not as good as my 6.5’s unfortunately.  I think the Accra 115’s may be a better  fit - keeping an eye out for a set of pulls.  I’m going to send the hogan heads off to be stripped raw this winter.

Packing the clubs away for winter after the worst group of the year. 
 

First tee one of the guys tells me he’s a plus four handicap and he plays seriously.  He hopes I don’t slow them down.  I proceeded to eagle the first and played the remaining 17 holes like I’d never swung a golf club before. 
 

I play a ton of rounds as a single and pretty much keep to myself and 99% of the time the other three in the group and just normal dudes.  This guy this morning was amazing.

The ferrules look great. I have used Accra 115's and TGI 115's on ZX7's. Got on with them initially, but numbers didn't line up for me. I was disappointed as the feel was exceptional.

I played the TGI 110’s for about ten rounds this year.  While I could play them,  I didn’t like some of the shot shapes they produced.  The 115 Accras seem to be better from the shaping / flight standpoint. 
 

I just sold the Hogan FTX’s and am working on a cool combo set that I’m having stripped raw.  Will probably stick a set of 115 Accras in them.

No I sent the heads in for refinish.  Bought them straight from Japan
