ESPN + Expanding Coverage for 2022......

I haven't seen any discussions if they are bringing back the speed rounds?

I still go into the office during the week and don't always have the opportunity to watch weekday coverage during the day.  The speed rounds were a nice quick way to get caught up at night seeing as I have no intention of watching the 4+ hour replays in the evening.  I don't know if it was a pandemic thing or if speed rounds became an NBC Sports Gold exclusive thing (I used Amazon Prime), but I don't recall many speed rounds being posted last year -- and the ones that were seemed to be posted so late into the night that it wasn't worth losing sleep to watch them.

I’m quitting pga tour live  because of the change.  I don’t want Disney , and $6.99 a month is dumb.    It was worth it when I got it through Amazon prime.

I already have Disney+ for my kids, if I upgrade to the Disney, Hulu, ESPN+ bundle for $13.99, do I get PGA Tour Live included or it is an additional $6.99? I read a few articles but they don't explain really well.

I'm questioning the same thing hence the starting of this thread.........

PGA Tour Live will be available to anyone who subscribes to ESPN+.  So the $6.99 a month (or annual pass for $69.99) gets you everything ESPN+ offers including PGA Tour Live.

Upgrading to the bundle will absolutely get you PGA Tour Live.

Having subscribed the last few years - I've really enjoyed having it.  Once they hit the Florida Swing in late February you have live golf on Thursdays and Fridays whenever you wake up.  When they're in Hawaii and CA it's a little later but still great.

With the additional feeds this year it would seem to be even better because you have more choices.  Although I really like the "every shot" format - there is something about watching a pro play 18 holes from 1-18 that teaches you about how to handle rounds and play better.

Back when it first started they didn't have commercials.  Then they got greedy and added commercials.  It's not clear if they will have commercials again - it's the one negative about the service.  I hope they don't have commercials on ESPN+.

I already have Disney+, I would definite upgrade to get the Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ at $14. I think it is a great deal. This year I got PGA Tour Live from Amazon for $7 a month.

ESPN+ for $6.99/month is definitely a good value IMO, especially so now with PGA Tour Live included.  ESPN+ already had tons of great content if you're at all a college sports or NHL fan, plus the E60 documentary content.   Now I basically get all my golf content for free, since I was paying for NBC Sports on top of ESPN.

Yeah but what’s on ESPN + for golf today?

if you download the app there is nothing.

with pga tour live and Amazon at least you could watch a years worth of tourneys January 1…

I feel like ESPN+ should at least do that.  And I hope the coming tourneys are good.

I signed up for ESPN+ for $6.99 a month through Amazon. It's cheaper to sign up for 1 year for $70 but I am not sure if I will keep the subcription.

I want to confirm that ESPN+ shows that PGA Tour Live is included for watching with Sentry Open and Sony Open links. I will double confirm on Thursday.

So the Sentry starts on Espn thurs at 3:15 PM?

I really hope the tournament coverage is as long as the old pga tour live’s was.  And not shortened.

It seems like the coverage will be longer (more than triples) than PGA Tour Live. See highlighted info below. 4 simultaneous live feeds compared to one live feed before. Likely 2 featured groups and 2 featured holes. It shows 12:15 PM, not sure ET or PT. I am in CA.

ESPN+ and PGA TOUR announced details for the inaugural season of PGA TOUR LIVE on ESPN+, with extended and expanded coverage that more than triples the total coverage – adding more than 3,200 new hours of live streaming available for a total of more than 4,300 exclusive hours. All PGA TOUR LIVE on ESPN+ coverage will be available to ESPN+’s more than 17.1 million subscribers.

In 2022, PGA TOUR LIVE on ESPN+ will include live coverage of 35 tournaments – from the TOUR’s Hawaii events in January all the way through the FedExCup Playoffs and into the fall – with at least 28 events having four full days of coverage and four simultaneous live feeds each day.

I always got mine through Amazon.  Does anyone know if it will still be available this way?  It was always auto-renewed.

I have Amazon fire stick, downloaded ESPN app, and signed up ESPN+ with Amazon account. As you go through the sign up steps with ESPN it takes you to your Amazon account sign in. I was pleasantly surprised that I can use Amazon account. I also had PGA Tour Live from Amazon last year.

I guess I’ll try it one more year, but it has turned into no more than extended Golf Channel coverage, and we all know how wonderful that is.

The coverage seems to be better than last year based on the description with 4 video channels. Although Sentry Open is a tournament with limited field so we won't experience the full PGA Tour Live Coverage in a regular tournament. In the Sentry Open, there is only 2 channels with 1 featured group (Hovland and Koepka on Thursday morning) and hole #14 coverage. In the afternoon there will be a second featured group (not named yet) and hole #14.

Here is the description of a full tournament coverage which has 4 channels:

The two featured groups will be on one of the ESPN+ channels. A second channel will be devoted to the “marquee group” that will be determined each tournament (hint: if Tiger Woods returns this year, he likely will be in that group). That channel will show every shot from every player.

A third channel will be devoted to featured holes, primarily the par 3s or other pivotal holes, such as the 10th at Riviera, the 17th at the TPC Scottsdale or perhaps the reachable par-4 12th hole at the TPC Sawgrass.

“Every player that comes through ... you’ll see him play at least four holes,” Wandell said.

The other channel will be considered the main feed, a collection of video pulled together from all the other channels. That essentially would be a traditional presentation.

You will not be able to watch PGA Tour Live through Amazon Prime Channels any more.  I got the following email from Amazon on Nov 26.  Basically it should have automatically cancelled and you should have received a pro-rated refund if there was any more time left on your subscription. To continue to watch PGA TOur Live. you'll need to sign up for ESPN+ and get that setup on whatever devices you use to stream (most devices, including web browsers, are supported).

Hello,

We’re writing to let you know that as of December 31, 2021, PGA TOUR LIVE will no longer be available through Prime Video Channels. Your subscription will automatically end at that time, and no action is needed. You can view your subscription status and billing history at Manage your Prime Video Channels. If you have service remaining from your last billing cycle, we will issue a pro-rated refund to the payment method you used. Refunds are usually processed within 2-3 business days. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us here. While your PGA TOUR LIVE subscription is ending, you can still choose from 100+ channels to create a lineup you love—and as always, thousands of movies and shows are yours to watch with Prime at no extra cost.

Thank you,
Prime Video

And to put that in perspective, it's still significantly better than before since PGA Tour Live previously wouldn't even start any coverage until the west coast swing.  Given the travel logistics and it being the first even on ESPN+ it makes sense they won't have "full" coverage as there will probably be at least some kinks they need to work out for the Hawaii tournaments.

Hmmm, seems true.  I just looked on Amazon, and found no mention of it.

Do you have to purchase ESPN+ too?
