Time for Tiger to move into graphite iron shafts?

There is no fluidity in his walk in the video of him hitting balls yesterday.  But maybe just a drop down to S400s from X100s for now.  Graphite in a few years before he gets the 6 Million Dollar Man treatment.

No it is not.  He has no trouble with strength or club head speed.  Check back with us in 10 years.

Also, I play X100 or PX 6.5s they are really not that stout. More like S+. He may even soft step them in the future who knows. I think S400 woukd still spin out of control with his AoA

Completely agree, and I also don’t understand why the move to graphite would be about speed. Bryson plays graphite, FFS. This isn’t 1990s tech we’re talking about.

I am thinking less about speed and more about vibration and ease on joints.

And I know he still can crank it out there with the younger guys but considering he has dropped all the way down into 60g driver shafts I don't think 110g iron shafts is that outlandish of an idea.

That guys so particular about his equipment sticking graphite in his irons would be like putting snow tires on an F1 car.

I don't think hitting his steel DG shafts are any harder on his joints than any other shaft would be - graphite or otherwise. 

 

He's switched to graphite in his woods because it provides a clear a speed advantage. That's not really a thing that most pros seek out in their irons. There, it's all about control and predictability.

If you're feeling vibration from your club shafts into your back and legs, you're doing it wrong.

Well, he didn't know that plowing a pile of randoms would lead to a club up side the head and his world turning upside down...  Likely didn't think he'd go like 10 years without a major as well...

What does posting something about Tiger hitting a driver have to do with graphite iron shafts?  It's about as irrelevant as saying he hits is as far as Colin, given Colin is actually playing real golf...

With modern day graphite likely no. However it’s probably what people think of. I know people also think graphite is easier on the joints but doubt that’s going to affect his leg. Usually more helpful to the elbows.

About as much as Tiger's ball speed off the driver has to do with his iron shafts.  If I'm not mistaken, BDC hits close to 200mph and uses graphite iron shafts.

If you scroll back time some years, he tried a 103 grams shaft for driver, and i was of the few who said that will turn out bad, and it did. Thats the period of time his issues started, so he either had bad advisors or thought he was still 20 years old.

Im not sure graphite will benefit him now, it has to be a profile where everything feels like DG X100, so a step in that direction could be DG 120 X with Sensicore. (im not up to date with the latest graphite options, so maybe the graphite clone of DGX100 is out there already?)

In that respect, it can help hands, elbows and sometimes shoulders.   Not going to do much elsewhere in the body.

If you took this question and put almost any other name in the title, I don't think anyone would think this far fetched. Multiple surgeries, accidents, a lot of mileage on that body.

I agree with the OP, graphite is a lot less taxing on your joints and back/ribs

 

Until you are in that age group and your body feels like it was hit by a bus every morning you don’t know how much graphite can help

 

I vote for steelfiber 125 x .. SS 1x.    

 

Now saying this he will go down the route a lot of x100 guys have forged as they age … x100 soft stepped, then s400’s, graphite in long irons, hybrid, add a 7w (they are just 5w’s anyways) , then finally heavy graphite across the board
