For some reason this really makes me chuckle.  All the max Homa social media followers crying themselves to sleep.  
 

im not sure why it tickles me so?  i think the whole pip thing is nonsense.  Maybe it’s that the kids thought they were popular because of their self made echo chamber ?   Then phil walked in and it all kind of crumbled. Meanwhile tiger finishes second and hasn’t played a hole.  Lol.  If he had hit those practice balls earlier in the summer - he’d have won.  😂.    Kind of showing us what is real and what isn’t.  Yes ?

A lot of people seem to underestimate the reach of the internet and social media. It would appear that the PGATOUR is investing in growing the game through said media........Kids love their phones and social media. IMO

I don't think they underestimate the reach but do think they believe the Court (Edit: the "Tour" - sorry I must have still been thinking immunity and SEC, haha) is investing in making money for the Tour, not "growing the game" in any sense other than generating revenue for . . . the Tour.

My statement had nothing to do with Phil, just a genral observation. 

Based on the crowd of kids I see waiting for Phils autograph after tournaments, I'd say he relates to them quite well .....IMO

Sure. Young kids.  But the Instagram crowd is 15-30 now. They aren’t standing  for Phil’s signature And  thats who the “ grow the game folks” are trying to reach.  When I said kids. I meant 30 and younger.  Lol.

I've yet to see anything official stating that Phil won the top prize for the PIP cash. If we find out that the results were any different than stated by PM, then that's a whole different story........

Given the ability to measure and slice and dice this type of social media data, I hope the tour factors “positive” drivers of engagement vs. just raw “views”

 

Like, TW my boy but getting tons of searches for crashing his car? That should not go into making money for the pip. Of course, all the golf related attention around his recovery and the PNC should.

 

And BK is really the most negative I think. This BK/BD spat, if anything, should go *against his pip score lol. 

 

But BD has a big following on YouTube, he makes good actual golf content, and that should be a big factor in his favor.

Well put.  BK is kind of the evil villain of the tour.  He enjoys being a "Richard".  I don't know if all of Phil's content is Phil, or if he has help from a marketing agency, but it seems like him, it's his personality.  Bryson is interesting, just because of the whole long drive thing, hanging out with the long drive guys and showing his progress on the socials.  But he is Bryson and will always rub a lot of people the wrong way.

Agree, Bryson has also done a ton of work collaborating with a number of big golf youtubers and other influencers ( trick shotters). He's not just relying on the "feud" he's actually making good content playing with other influencers, talking about how he chases distance, showing how he built his body.  

 

Like him or hate him, it's still really cool to see someone show us whats under the hood, but also play with people relevant to the younger generations of golf.
