Agreed.  Plum Creek will have glimpses of getting better....then goes right back to being in awful shape.  Hope they can get it back up to some higher standards.

The press release says they've already (supposedly) renovated the Plum Creek clubhouse. I also hope they redid the parking lot. Some of the concrete has heaved so much that it was almost like driving over curbs.

 

There is that one par 3 with like a billion railroad ties. Until I actually see railroad ties not hiding under a foot of dead, unkept grass, I won't consider the course to be fully renovated.

Checked out Stick & Feather with the family this week, a new indoor simulator close to City Park there.  Really, really cool spot...the bays and space are huge and the whole space has a great feel.  Love the spot.  The tech for the sims is really nice as well, I forget the name but some Korean company I think with e6, so tons of courses to play.  Lots of club and ball data as well as instant video playback of the impact.  Cool stuff.  Only bummer is they had a snag with the liquor license so no drinks as of now, but hopefully it'll be solved by the spring.  So anyway, if you're looking for a simulator in Denver, check them out and hopefully they'll have that liquor license soon!

While doing a little searching I discovered there's a document sitting unlinked on the Sand Valley site with a founder's offering for Rodeo Dunes. Not going to link it here since they didn't intend it to be public yet, but if you do some searching you should be able to find it.

 

It will be a public resort with some founders memberships that get tee times reserved for them each day.

$75k founders deposit due on signing, $5k annual dues once open, preview play for founders and guests until resort opens to public (preview expected to start late 2024/early 2025), guaranteed founder block of tee times each day that can be booked a year ahead, 50% off golf rates for accompanied guests, some founders only tournaments. And the twist is they say the $75k is refundable in 30 years. I'd go into that expecting to never get it back, but the Keisers have been successful enough that your odds are probably pretty good of getting it. I wonder if they require having paid dues for all those years too.

 

If it's at least as good as Sand Valley, $5k a year for all the golf you want on potentially two top 200 courses under an hour away is not bad at all. That initiation is a little steep for basically a public course even with the potential refundability. And I'm sure the annual will go up in price once the resort becomes successful. Still interesting. They own enough land out there to easily have 4 very good courses if not more. Given how close it is to a major airport I don't see how it doesn't become a massive success.

Happy New Year's Eve to my Colorado WRX family!

Anyone get out last week when the temps hit 60?  I had plans, but unfortunately came down with Covid.

 

Did anyone get any new cool gear during the holidays?

Saw the notice come out this week for the Colorado Golf Show in Denver, February 17-19.

Anyone planning to go?  I usually do...but not sure why.  I really don't need anything right now.

Last year I got sick of missing as many 10-20 footers and felt it was time to finally bench my Scotty. I bought a Betti blade with that gorgeous raised toe.

For some reason, I'm awful with it. I mean..... awful, like starting putts 3-10* offline. I go back to the Scotty for a men's league event on Saturday (delayed 3 times and only a par 3, huzzah!!!!) and made 70'-80' of putts. Sometimes ol' trusty just needs to be benched to see who is boss?

 

I will no longer touch the Betti. I'm willing to bet I'm not the only person to have this experience.

NOTE: It's amazing how fast confidence flies away when you look up and your ball is already left by a foot. Brain poison right there 

I went through the same thing - my 'Go To' putter is an EVNROLL ER7, but I felt like I needed a change.  I picked up an Odyssey Triple-Track putter because at Golf Galaxy and PGA Tour Superstore, I sunk putt after putt with it.  Well, took it out and never got used to it, after 5 or 6 rounds, I sold it.  My EVNROLL went back in the bag and after being replaced, has been behaving really well again.  Sometimes you have to discipline your clubs, just like your children, so they'll grow up to be responsible citizens!  😄😁😆

Went down to Hollydot and played 18. Not much to that course architecturally, but a killer vibe, dive bar in the clubhouse, lots of kids and dogs running around.

Grabbed tee times for 36 holes at Landman when they went up yesterday. Flying into Des Moines and hoping to book Harvester, then out of Omaha where the wish is Lost Rail.

 

Very, VERY excited for this. Those are probably the top three courses on my want to play list.

I used to play Hollydot during the late fall/winter when I lived in Colorado Springs (2004 - 2017), but haven't been down there in ages.  Same thought, nothing special about the course, but was frequently open and available to play during the winter.  I do like the bar, great for after-round drinks.  The people who hang out there are very friendly!  Try to play Walking Stick, as well (Also in Pueblo area) - that has a better layout, or if you don't want to go that far south - Cheyenne Shadows on Fort Carson is another great course that stays open during the winter.  They opened it to civilians, but you have to arrive early to get a Guest pass for the day at the Visitors Center.
