To those of you in the pack behind me that are hoping the leader's number of missed cuts starts to increase, it didn't happen this week down in Mexico. Gary Woodland just made it in for a few of us.

All 3 of my horses are racing this weekend.

I am regaining my steaday pace after my disastrous -9 (3 missed) two weeks back. 😄

5 of the 7 took Rahm and if he gets it done will have a solid week.

Rode 18 with Mrs. NCLancer yesterday at The Challenge in Graham, NC.  68 and sunny with a slight breeze which is just about perfect weather.  The golf game was so-so as I completed the day playing one ball and that ball took 100 strokes (52-48).  No penalty strokes but a few punchouts were needed, 8-14 fairways, 34 putts, played white tees at 5755 yards.

 

4-29-22 was our 27th wedding anniversary so in celebration we stopped at Dickie-Do's BBQ in Haw River and got take-out.  Golf, BBQ, pleasant weather, and a wonderful wife...I'm a very lucky guy!

Let's return to the states this week for our PGA Tour golf. We say adios to Mexico and hello to the DC suburbs. Those of you that have been on our threads for a number of years have heard a few stories from my attending well over a dozen Kemper Open tournaments when I lived in Northern Virginia. I had a fraternity brother who made it on Tour and Brian provided me with a couple of tickets each year. The first one I attended was held at Congressional C.C.  The Kemper Open then moved to the brand new  DC's version of a Tournament Players Club golf course.   Doc and I went together a bunch and had many a fine time watching the best on Tour play in the 80's and into the early 90's.  I was surprised to see this week's Tour stop is indeed back on the same Potomac, Maryland golf course. It is no longer named the TPC of Avenel. They have changed it to something they think is perhaps more snooty sounding.  UGH .  The next Tournament in our contest is the Wells Fargo Championship from TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm.

I'm going to have a bit of fun this week with the Tour returning to my old stomping grounds.  🕺

 

 

No I was not a resident of tony Potomac, Maryland (Dan Snyder land) on the banks of the Potomac river. I was just a waiter/roommate that  lived 17 miles away in Reston, Va. The white table cloth waiter who loved golf of any kind. 

I many times schlepped (my dc lingo is needed here) on over the river to see the best professional golfers of the day play in the land of newly minted mega mansions. The real rich addresses in the Maryland 'burbs are in Potomac.

 

Can one still experience that comforts of home sensation still in one of these?
