Mrs NC Lancer and I headed west to the Greater Asheville area and spent Mon and Tues night at Etowah Golf and Resort.

While there we were visited by one sweet-swinging scoring machine...you known him as the Commish, LP, Blond Bomber, Spike, etc...what a fine player and great guy!  LP is very familiar with the 27 holes at Etowah and he was just fantastic to play with, very generous with info, yardages, and suggestions.  My game is not truly "point and shoot" but I felt confident with him picking my targets.  He was also very helpful with Mrs. NCL and cheered on her nice shots. 

 

Our weather both days was beautiful, around 72 and sunny.  The course was greened up which left nice lies in the fairway but the rough was thick making searching for balls an adventure.  2 nines (West/South) have Bermuda greens which rolled smooth while the bent greens (North) were a bit rough and need work.  We played West/North and South/North.  Not a full course but a steady pace of play both days.    

I did not score well (106 and 97) but I don't feel bad about my play.  LP is just a fine player (79 and 78) who, with a little better bounces on the bumpy greens, could have shot 75's easily.  He is not long but his drives rarely miss the fairway and his iron play is spot-on.  An all-around solid player and super playing partner.   

 

The rounds were entertaining and we both had a great time with LP on the course and then he generously gave us a tour of his beautiful Biltmore Forest Golf Club.  A gorgeous building oozing history and a course with impeccable conditions.  Such an impressive place!

I too got out this week to play a round rusty as all hell. But what the heck I figured why not. It was beautiful  outside,  and soon it will be hot humid and miserable. 
I went to a public course. Algonkian located right off the Potomac River in Sterling Virginia. 
It’s in a park with trails and woodland teaming with nature. I saw beavers, foxes. No beavers on foxes. But beavers and foxes. And many a doe a deer female or male. Who knows? 
I played not good. But I wasn’t effected by the bad corkscrew swing off the tee as much as I might have been on a more narrow course. I actually hit some nice irons when I was on the fairway. Putting was atrocious. It was expected. 
But if you don’t stop and take in the beauty in this life you might find life has passed you by, got paired with a very nice older Asian man from Grest Falls Va. He was walking and I was riding. But I was very patient and accommodating. Even with his really weird set up and swing. Up and down with the club and then the slow wind up and then through. Cross between Charles Barkley and Jim Furyk.
 

I was happy to be there and was not in any hurry to leave.

and on an easy course with no wind and a cut line at -5 I also have Kisner from Lindsayland with his stellar -1 with 5 holes to play. 😕
