We started this at the begining of the the year and have been rolling along since Maui's tournament of champions. We do the PGA Tour picks thing in the off season.  We specialize in a NFL picks contest in the fall and winter. 

 

If you are truly intertested in jumping in now and want to participate all summer long until the start of the new NFL season it can happen for you. 

 

 As commisioner I have the authority to wave the secrect handshake and extend an invitation your way TigerIrons. 

 

There are two deadlines each week that all participants must meet.  

 

In 4 sentences or less please tell the group why you want to join us and share some tidbits from your past degenerate gambling experiences. 

 

We will welcome you if you feel this is something you want to be a part of.

 I noticed you are an unconfirmed newbie member to this board. Because of this we must wait until you have solid fully approved WRX member status before you join us.

On this Sunday night we conclude the second week of May 2022. 

 

Their reservations for a visit to the moutains to tee it up with the commissioner were made months in advance. NCL reached out to me and asked what I thought about a stay and play package at Etowah Valley for he and the misses. I said book it I love the place. 

 

Somewhere on the back 9 down in Lindsay Land last week I must have gotten injured. It seems that there was a price to pay for my best round (72) in over a year. As I played the finishing holes I began to feel a soreness in my groin left side. The next day I knew something was off. One week prior to the Triangle couples arrival I had to text NCL and tell him that I would show for our golf together , but was dissapinted. I told NCL that because of most recent injury while playing I would be only putting. I hobbled around work at a medium pace at best for a few shifts. The getting in and out of my car or a golf cart was where the pain was most severe. Not good with sliding the right hip back. Ouch and damn it that is a key move in the start of the golf swing. I was depressed. Last Sunday Mother's day nobody went golfing where I work. It was all about dressing fancy and eating the finest of foods while making the lady of the house feel honored. I sat on my rump. At some point during the afternoon I stood up and took a few air swings. The pain had lessened. I wondered if maybe I could hit some half wedges in and then putt while playing with Mr. and Mrs. NCL. 

 

Talk about your Golf God intervention stories. I ended up playing two glorious pain free rounds with Mr. and Mrs. Duke Blue Devil while they were visiting me in Asheville. 

 

I stopped first to talk to the chief. I announced to him that it had been 9 months since my last visit and that I had missed his valley. I then told him that on this glorious spring day I was hosting a most special couple. I asked him to please help me ensure a memorable golfing experience to a fellow LP and his gal that had traveled miles to play some golf with me.  The Indian made some hand gesture and I drove on. 😀 

 

In the second photo we see the Upsate New York couple taking in the scenic beauty that is #5 on the North.

I'm definitely interested.

 

None of my real-life buddies really follow the tour closely any more; either they lost interest when Tiger stopped being dominant or it fell down their priorities when they had kids. I've tried things like Fantasy Golf, but it's not the same when you're just competing against a giant group of anonymous people. I swore off sports betting for money when Malcolm Butler cost me wayyyyyyyy too much money by making that interception at the end of the Super Bowl. Now when I gamble it's mostly just poker - so that at least I have *some* control over what's happening, and so it's less stressful when I watch sports.

We go by intials around here to keep it simpler. Are you fine with TI should you come aboard? 

 

Inside the beltway is it? Maryland, Virginia or the District proper? I lived in Oakton, Reston, and Herndon for 15 years in the 80's and 90's and one of our current picks brothers lives out by Sterling, Va.  Being from the Nations Capital region you already have early bonus points with me. 😀

 

I was completely kidding with my snarky request for past gambling experiences. I believe you thought I was serious. Many of us here also have bad memories from large losses in the attempt to beat our man. Thanks for sharing your stories. 

 

There is not one cent involved in our contest, we do this just for rush of having some action each week. All you can win is braging rights. I expect you took a fairly indepth look at our thread already. If not I invite you to go back a read a few pages and get a taste for what we do. We do more than just make weekly picks. We are a fun and entertaining group.

Tally up your score at the completion of the tournament and have that posted by noon on Monday.

Please look back over the thread and see how we do this.

It seems as if right now I can only make 5 posts in a 24 hour period. I'm not sure how long the probation period lasts, or how it ends.

 

TI is fine - initials based off a dumb dad joke as good as anything. I'm just another federal government employee living closer than I would like to DC.

 

I had been lurking on the forum for a while, and I had seen this thread. I was thinking about registering anyway, but then I had a question to ask on the board last weekend, so I figured now was as good a time as ever - especially with a major this week!

 

The rules seem pretty straightforward, and I've taken a look at how you all do it. Seems like a fun game and a fun group. Thanks for letting me be part of it.
