Would love to see Tiger on the first page. All pick be damned I will be pulling for El Tigre! 
That said he might want to win but I just do not see it happening unless those doctors that operated on him were miracle workers.

I got to the range three times last week and have been working hard on my game so I have a chance at shooting better scores. I have shot four consecutive rounds in the 80's and my index has climbed to an 8.8 . You gents know I play first for the love of the game and my time spent outdoors getting some sun with the fellas. My scores are certainly not the most important thing to me in golf, but I still know a slump when I am in one. 

 

Most all the courses in the greater AVL area are punching their greens. The few that don't or have yet to are seeing all the play. On Monday the gang went budget golfing at the Creek. It was mobbed. The crowd is all retirees that spray shots, don't hit if far, and walk slow. 😁  I arrived as I do allowing time for a decent warm up. I was hitting all my shots well on the range. When I rolled some practice putts I found faster greens. Not fast but quicker than I have been playing. Crooked creek is a flat fairly easy track. 

At 11:30 under sunny skies with winds of 10-15 in 61* air our group sent our drives skyward.............and then we waited, and waited, and waited over every shot for almost the entire front 9. I'm not complaining because it still was a day off and I was golfing with the fellas in the fine springtime weather. I am grateful that I so infrequently find this pace of play. These mountains ain't no Los Angeles county.   No I wasn't bitchin' but I also knew this pace of play would prohibit me from getting into any groove or flow. So Mr. so accurate with his irons on the range started out not being able to buy a damn GIR.  I missed the first six greens. Not by much but one was short, the other long, one was a little tugged and yet another was a weakly pushed.  Numerous times after hitting an approach shot that failed to find the dance floor I dropped the club on the ground and put my hands on my knees and just cursed into the ground in anguish. How is this happening? I hit 200 solid iron shots on the range in preparation for this round.   LOL   Lord knows I found all the fairways off the tee boxes though.  On 7 I hit my first green and it was not that close to the pin.I did hit both the 8th and 9th green in regulation. 3 in a row. 

I made the turn with a six over 42. 

Play started to open up a smidge on the back and I started to get into a little flow. My irons woke up and I hit approach shots to 25 feet or better a few times. I only hit 4 greens on the back, but my short game on Monday was the best it's been in a month. I saved a boat load of pars. If I missed the green I routinely chipped it in tight and made the save. I did not make any birdies even though I had some decent looks, but I didn't three putt once either. Hooray . I had no penalty strokes. Only missed one fairway but that is not news. 😄

3 greens outward 9      4 greens coming in 

Nine straight pars on the back 

 

42 front  36 back  for a 78 

 

Contributing to my much better score on the back 9 was the better pace of play and ..........

a vanilla milkshake, a joint, and accurate yardages. ⚡

 

The Creek is the only golf course I play that has mannequins watching the action.  

 

I miss Links O Tryon. I have a different day off this week. Tomorrow for the first time in a month I am headed south. It's time to take on Mike and the boys down in Lindsay Land.

I am going in confident and hope to possess enough grind to break 80 again.

My take from round one at Augusta . Please keep in mind that I am one who often features some bright and sassy colors in my golf attire so in no way am I to be thought of as stodgy or conservative.  Tigers' disco shinny pink tee shirt was way gaudy, and Hovland's pink jogging pants were just plain unacceptable. Both were stupid choices for the opening round of that fine tournament. 😁

Regarding the actual playing of golf from Thursday's action I am very concerned that two of my players will miss the cut today.  JT and Koepka did not do well yesterday and are way down the leader board. They both do that and I will take a 12 point hit. Tough to take for sure, but then again I do have a sizable lead in the standings. 

 

Fantastic tournament on such a beautiful golf course.

 

Day two action commences here in a few hours. Let's go MULLET !  

 

I played golf all afternoon yesterday but I still tuned in to the action at Augusta. Note the two very important items in the center console of the Yamaha......... the Masters broadcast and my chocolate milkshake.

Not at all Masters-related but we walked 18 on Wednesday afternoon at Occoneechee.  It was truly our first warm day of the year with some humidity and a temp of 78 at our 3PM tee-off.  Played at 5900 yards and had a disappointing 51-50=101 performance.  I don't feel like I played poorly as I hit 10-14 fairways and had 33 putts.  1 lost ball and 1 other I fished out so I only had 2 penalty strokes.  I had no 8's, but no 3's and 6 7's marred the card though😠.  Oh well, I guess I just wasted too many shots. 

I'm going low next time out!!

It may not be Masters related Mr. NCL, but the golf tournament of the week is not only what this club is about. The golf recap tales that a few of us share frequently are looked forward to by many. Too polite there fellow LP. Cheers to your first warm day on the links.
