Course:  Umstead Pines Golf and Swim Club at Willowhaven, Durham, NC

Weather:  90 degrees, partly cloudy, low 70's dew points

Tees: mixed, about 5975 yards

Stats: 43 + 48 =91, 11-14 fwys, 31 putts

Highlights:  Teed off at 3:30, crowded as usual, invited twosome behind us to join up on the 3rd hole, they were members who only played 9, back nine stuck behind foursome who would not let us through. Finished in 3 hours, 55 minutes.  Played same ball for 17 holes, lost it in the water on 18 (same scenario as last week!).  1 3 putt, 6 1 putts, putter behaved.  Blew the Par 4 17th with my only 8 of the day.  Pop-up drive, mis-hit 3 woods, from right rough to left rough, chip to 30 ft, 2 putt.  I love a warm evening, finishing as the sun is setting!  Golf is good for the soul when you take a minute to bask in its glory.  Sorry no pics (we forgot as we were busy "basking").

Great to hear you and the golfing wife had a memorable round on your home track this week. Nice number of fairways again NCL, and awesome to hear of improved putting. With your smooth stroke it's going to happen.

Today starts my busiest week of the season. It is our Member/Guest tournament taking place the next three days. I just took a spin around the course to take in the beauty before the troops arrive to do battle upon it.

I'd say this has happened fortuitously for me 3 or 4 times over the last 7 weeks. Thanking my luck stars tonight as Cam Young made a birdie on 18 to make the cut right on the number. When you are in the hunt (far off but still reachable) for the back 9 total number of wins you can't afford a MC at any time.
