Wow, that progressed quickly.  Seemed like he was doing pretty well 2 years ago.  RIP TR.

I legitimately fear developing Alzheimer’s in my old age more than cancer. It’s ruthless and unstoppable. Godspeed Tim.

This hits me hard.  Lost my Dad to Alzheimer's back in 1999, following a multi-year battle.  Spent the last few years of his life in full-time care.  Without a doubt, it's the thing I fear beyond anything else, knowing the role heredity plays in its development in any given individual.  My very best wishes to his family and friends.

As another poster mentioned, I'm not one to feel compelled to discuss or comment on a situation such as this, knowing I have no personal connection to ... But yes, this hits a little too close to home. RIP Tim, you were enjoyed and appreciated by so many.

Man, life can just make you stand up at a very specific point and take stock on how blessed you find yourself to be ...

RIP Tim - always enjoyed the snippets of your work that we got on this side of the Pond. It was clear that he brought a certain gravitas to his role and coverage is poorer for his absence.

The story from the Palm Beach Post linked above told me some things I did not know, like how the disease first manifested itself at the US Open in 2019 and him being taken off the air as a result, and the connection to the Nantz Alzheimer's Center and their diagnosis. His disease really must have been aggressive.

I first remembered seeing him on Golf Channel in the early days of its existence. In fact one of the things that came to mind when I read this news yesterday was him being on Viewers Forum with Kessler one time - probably around 2000 or 2001 - and the two of them having a very awkward moment when Kessler started bloviating about always submitting every score for his handicap and Rosie called him out, saying something to the effect that there were casual rounds where that did not happen, and Kessler took such offense that they had to go to commercial. When they came back things had settled down.

Tim was always a credible and professional presence on that channel and for a long time was one of its mainstays. In watching the tribute piece they did on him yesterday they included clips from years back and it really brought home how the channel has regressed when they showed shots of him working with others who are no longer part of GC in the departed Orlando studio newsroom and on the anchor desk. RIP Mr. Rosaforte.

I remember recently Tom Seaver going down with this disease at 74.  Older but still scary....    He was in his 60's when he was diagnosed with it.  Said he woke up feeling like he had the FLU everyday then was making really poor decisions.  Really scared him then of course he was diagnosed.

I am shocked by this news as I just saw the title on the thread right now.

The first time I met Tim was at The Dye Preserve.  I was out there as a client of mine had gotten us on.  Not knowing Tim at the time, after the front nine he drove up to us and started having a conversation with me like we were long lost pals.  Eventually we introduced ourselves and I mentioned that I do statistical analysis on Tour and he was really fascinated by that.

Afterward, I would see him occasionally at Tour events and even at places like the PGA Merchandise Show and far more often than not, he would approach me and start talking to me like I saved his life or introduced him to his wife.  I am always afraid to approach people like Tim because they are usually doing work at these events and have a million people that want to talk to them.  But here was Tim always going out of his way to say hello to me.

One year I took my dad to the API at Bay Hill and again, Tim came up to me and was boasting about my work to my dad.  I try to keep my discussion about my work to my family at a minimum, but it's always good to have somebody else boast about your work to your parents.

I didn't even know he had Alzheimer's.  It wasn't too long ago I was thinking as to why I hadn't seen him much on TV lately.

Even before I got to know Tim, I always thought he was an incredible journalist.  But I can tell you from knowing him that golf lost a great member to this game and the world lost a helluva man.

Really nice to hear that he was as kind and pleasant in person as he appeared on TV.

So sad for his family.  I read that Tim retired in 2019 when he knew he was having memory issues.  The only good thing about this is that he didn't suffer with the disease for many many years, as some do.  I think that would be the hardest for a family to deal with, watching their loved one slowly fade away for years.  😥

I mentioned in my previous post that I fear this more than cancer.

Alzheimer's took my great grandmother. My dad's mom suffered from it before a very sudden case of sepsis from a busted gallbladder was her demise (doctor said the Alzheimer's was a strong contributor to her not letting us know she was in such pain). My grandmother on mom's side is slowly fading from Alzheimer's as I type. My grandfather on mom's side was one of the best, most manly-men I ever knew: a retired Air Force CMS who literally built a 20x30 storage building for my mom in his late 60s by hand (I helped pour the slab, hahaha!). He developed Lewy Body Dementia, and went from riding his bike 15+ miles a day in his late 70s to hospice care and death in less than 2 years.

It's in my family in a variety of manifestations, and I'd honestly rather have cancer.

A bag of left-handed junk.

Mixed feelings over Ginella's podcast. He talked to a lot of people and included them in the piece, so that was good. But at over 2 hours it is a slog. It really would have benefited from some sharp editing by a producer. I don't think we needed the doctor's POV on the disease in general for example. I kept waiting for the music at the end to fade out but it never did. Really mixed feelings about hearing the private conversations he recorded between Tim and his friends too, where you could hear how the disease affected his ability to think and speak. That was a bit close to the bone.
