Anyone have a MP223 vs i210 comparison?

223 have alot less bounce than the i210 so it should feel like it gets into the turf easier.

Should be a good amount less on spin with the right shaft of course.

Just got a set of 223 on order here. It’s hard to tell really how much better they might be for turf interaction. Since they are still pre order and I would assume not too many people have put them “in play” yet. People could all make their thoughts from the numbers.
but I would agree that they have less bounce and should be more of what you might be looking for

That’s fair.

Update:

I was able to hit a demo 7 iron against my gamer i210’s off mats to tonight

223 with x100 had 7 yards more carry, 500 rpm’s lower spin and had a peak height 12 yards lower than my i210’s (powerspec) with modus 130x with an equal or better dispersion.

It should be noted that the x100’s in the i210 were about 5 yards shorter than the 130x I’m currently playing so the gap would be greater with with like for like shafts me thinks.

turf interaction is tough to gauge off mats.

looks like an order is an my future….

You going to change your handle?? You saw about the same thing I did.
Curious what is your 7iron club head speed? I was in between stiff and x stiff with 89mph

club head speed was 94 with the mizuno, 96 with the i210 today.  That’s likely due to the comfort I have with the i210’s and the fact I perceive the 130x shaft to be more stable.

if the 223s stay in the game the handle will change or be revised.

Ok good that makes feel better with my swing speed at 89 to 90 mph and me settling with the ProjectX LZ 6.0. I think my swing can handle the 6.5 x flex but I really like the 120 weight.

Hopefully the wait is not too long.

best of luck with whichever you end up with

Looking for a comparison on i210 vs mp223.

currently game i210s.  They are consistent as can be but are higher spinning heads and not the fastest through the turf.    Mizuno pro 223s have caught my eye is they may be better in both categories.  Looking for thoughts.

Hey there. I got some i210’s a bit over a year ago. I was getting my preferred TM p760’s re-gripped, so I got to put the i210’s through the paces. I never have felt a club that so sticky through the turf. I ordered 4-9 and in power spec to press out some bounce, but still, it felt like glue. Also, despite the lofts being quite strong compared to my really traditional p760’s, they don’t go any further. Is there anything I can do about this or just not play them? Tbh, I love the idea of them, with extra spin and forgiveness, but haven’t really enjoyed my time with them yet.

Maybe you could send them in to PING for the Hovland treatment.  They ground a s#!t load of bounce off of his i210's to help them get through the turf and get a better trajectory.

Less spin and a WAY lower trajectory with the 223's?  Sounds like you won't be holding greens too well with that combo.  I would hold my horses before ordering that set, or you may be sorely disappointed with your new sticks when you actually get them on the course.

My i210 7 iron spins 7500 to 8k and averages a peak height of 115-120 with a decent of 50ish.

That sounds pretty good to me.  The spin is maybe a touch high, but not ridiculous.  Are you ripping balls back off of greens?  And your peak height is very good.  Dropping that down to like only 85 feet doesn't sound like a great idea to me.  Unless you play in a very windy area with no trees to hit over on occasion. I am a high ball hitter myself and I can tell you, it is an asset.  I used to think I hit the ball too high, until they started putting Pro Tracer lines on TV.  The pros hit the ball very high as well, unless they are hitting a knock down shot.  If you can keep the spin around 7000-7500 AND get the peak height back up around 100 feet or so with the 223's then you have a winner.

That’s my goal.

I also see I said peak height dropped 12 yards, that should have been 12 feet.  Apex was still over 100ft with 223.

really what I’m looking for is the turf interactions and greater ability to adjust trajectory.  The i210’s are really really good at hitting a consistently high trajectory, but I struggle to flight it low at bandon, chambers, gamble sands etc….

this has been my experience as well.  They worked really well when the turf has been firm/hard and the bounce just glides across.  Soft conditions the club sticks for me and I end up trying to sweep to compensate.

Yeah, BIG difference between 12 feet and 12 yards! 🤣  It sounds like the 223's will be a great fit then.  Do it!!!!!

Curious whether anybody else has any insight on this comparison.

I have 223s in the bag right now, and recently traded something I wasn't using for a used set of i210s. The i210s just came in, and I took the 5, 7 and 9 irons to the driving range yesterday along with my 223 5, 7 and 9 irons. Lots of caveats here: Hitting off mats, into a very strong wind, in the rain, with no launch monitor. And different shafts: DG 120 S300 in the i210s, PX LZ 6.0 in the 223. So my observations are purely based on feel (off a mat with range balls) and visuals.

But with those caveats in mind, the biggest differences for me by far are bounce, feel and sound. The i210s sound considerably more muted than the 223s. The i210s also feel really great, but I would say you definitely get less feedback from your strike location. I was hitting them pretty well, but honestly couldn't really tell if I strayed from center. And then the bounce was the most important difference. I can get a little steep, and the i210s basically kept me moving no problem. Really eager to see how they compare off grass, though.

Distance-wise, it looked to me like the 223s were just a little bit longer than the i210s. I'd also guess that they spun a little bit less. Launch was similar. But again, keep all those caveats in mind; those distance comments are just guesses based on my eye and in variable/less-than-ideal conditions.

Both are really forgiving irons. Like, best in class forgiveness levels.

I'm headed out of town on a long vacation tomorrow. I think I'll take the 223s with me on this trip since they're what I'm used to. But I'm looking forward to doing more testing when I get back, and would love to hear some comments and comparisons from others, as well.
