Lower Cost Golf Grips

So every year I scour different sites and find a set of 13 golf grips that’s a set of excess inventory or discontinued product and I’m able to get fresh grips for 3-4 dollars a grip. Last year I got Lamkin crosslines with a Cleveland logo on them for $30! The year before I got Lamkin UTx for about $45. This year I’m finding NOTHING. Obviously with the geo-political factors everything is more expensive so this isn’t a shocker. I’m just not sure I’m willing to pony up $80 minimum for a set of crosslines or TVs. 
 

So my question is, has anyone tried the knock off TV like grips like Karma or grip 1? 
 

Anything I’m missing? Are there any good grip deals out there? I’m not picky about my grips, I just like to change them every year to keep them fresh.

I’ve always liked and played 2.3 Iomic Sticky grips . I play between 60-75 rounds a year and need to regrip with those twice a year. Great grips, but they don’t last a season for me. That said I’ve been buying knock offs for 35-40% of the new price. I can purchase a set for $40 vs $130. This may not be everyone’s choice , but it could be an option.

Are the Iomic 2.3’s on eBay that ship from China for around $55 counterfeit? Or are they less simply because they’re coming from China and will take a couple of months to get?

Stick with using Lamkin grips.   They wear much better and last much longer than other grips.   

 

I play over 100 rounds per year, and I get several years out of Lamkin Crossline full cord grips.

I've tried all sorts of the lesser known and knock off brands, always and up going back to golf pride.  They might be cheaper per grip, but I have yet to find one that holds up.  Cheaper is no good if I'm constantly replacing. 

 

Anyway, these days I rarely replace an entire set at once, tend to replace them as they need to be replaced.  My driver and wedges generally get replaced a couple times a season, while my long irons may only be once a year.

I assume they’re counterfeit. They’re simply too cheap not to be. 
 

That being said, I put on a set two years ago and am still using them. They work and feel just fine for me. I’m just a chop, no way I’m ever paying $10-12 per grip.

Trying out Kingrasp grips from amazon right now.  Feel just like a GP TV but question will be whether or not they hold up after some use

I have some Karma Tour Velvets. They are okay. They seem a little less tacky but okay 

 

 

I really liked the Champion brand wraps but I find them to be slightly less than midsize

my local  shop ws running out of grips and either couldnt get  Golf Pride  or the prices were crazy

 

so he bought  "copies"  from Lazada/alibaba and has a seperate  display in  the shop>no effort to confuse  shoppers  .They are available and a decent price  maybe  1/3rd to 1/2 of the genuine article

 

Is  he wrong to do this bear in mind its Thailand and not the west

 

No rules broken importing through legitamate  source and taxes paid

The Star Sidewinder is a lot like Pure. I also find the Star grips last longer. I remember back 6 years or so the cost was only around $4 each. Double that now.

The price doesn't mean they're counterfeit. If they were made in China there would be a chance that they're real, but Iomic is made in Japan.. Rakuten would be the place to find deals on Japanese made gear, especially as the Japanese don't look the other way with respect to fake goods the way the Chinese do.

In the past I have used lower cost or close out Tacki Mac's or Lamkins and although good and great pricing I have found that the Golfpride CP2 grips  Pro or Wrap last longer and offset changing the other grips that wear out on a yearly basis. I play over 100 rounds per year and if I wipe the CP2's down once a week they last and last. One caveat however I have 14 club dividers so they don't rub against each other. When I am not playing I am practicing so easily these grips will last 18-24 months without signs of wear.

The SuperStroke grips for irons are good for the price. They have a good feel and they're lightweight compared to full rubber grips. The only knock on them is they start to show wear sooner than rubber and they can't be rejuvenated with soapy water and a stiff brush the way rubber can. 

 

I tend to use the SuperStrokes when I want to feel the head of the club more. They're around 46g compared to 50g for Tour Velvet or 56g for rubber midsize grips. That small amount of weight in the handle end can make a difference in how heavy or light the clubhead feels.

The sidewinder do seem to be pretty close in feel / looks to pure pros

I’ve played two sets of knock offs from mr Bezos. At 50% of the price of name brands I had to try them. They are good for one year.They have held up great @ 70+ rounds per year

Amazon is already a flea market of chinese junk with random combination of letter names.  I prefer not to encourage that. "Saplize?" C'mon...

I've been using those saplize grips all season. They're holding up quite well. The tour velvet style, not the cord ones  Still look and perform like new. No appreciable difference than any of the other grips I've used including the GPs on my irons I got at the same time.

I would say the pure are a lot like the Star. (Although the dtx are a slam dunk)

Thanks for this info - never heard of Star grips. I love my Pure grips, but they're up to $16.09 per grip for the neons, which is just absurd for one grip. Pure grips used to be pretty affordable and have been my favorite grip for awhile.

dependable grips -  GP, Avon, Lamkin, Pure.

 

eventually any of them will show wear.

my Karsten putter grip gave up the ghost.

top layer began to wear off - after a decade.

Exactly. But they do really last. I've had mine for ages now, shows very little to no wear (unlike the MCC+4 I use to have). I use the Wraps and it's now around $12 a grip when it use to be $7...hence Star.

 

$16 a grip is nutz for a rubber grip.
