Best Driver in Recent History

Pick your top 3. What has been the best driver in recent history?

 

I am of the belief golf club models should work on a 3 year or at least a 'every other' year release. Allowing the brands to actually put the appropriate time/effort into each model for realistic improvements. Because of this you get models that are 4-5 years old that outperform the latest and greatest.

 

So, I would like to know--in recent memory what are the best of the best? if Im missing some, sorry--I tried to keep it to 10 choices.

Ive heard from multiple people at pro shops when I was shopping that the Ping G400 Max was the best driver made in the last 20 years. So you might not be wrong lol There are people that feel VERY strongly about that club.

I like my Honma, have had a few mizunos that were great, PRGR. I can think of some real barn burners that are not on that list. The list looks more like a golf digest poll

I mean if we are being honest nothing in the last 20 years was better than the Dunlop Loco driver 🙂  That driver was the TM RBZ before the TM RBZ.

 

I was just going by the most talked about on here and sales volume. Everyone probably has a niche club though

That club has been out for 2 weeks and by all reviews is the SIM 2 with a cool paint job. No need to add it just yet.

My ping g20 is a good 10 to 15 yards longer than my g400 sad to say.

First if all where do you get off not including the Hammer X!?!?

 

I play a Sim2 but here is the list:

 

1. Ping G425 (90% of golfers could play this) 

2. Sim 2 (solid all around, only know how is not a lot of adjustability) 

3. Epic Flash (great driver, but more importantly is the use of AI in design work)

I have the G400 and have been heavily debating spending the extra $400 on getting the G425.

 

Still dont think it will do anything for me worth the price up upgrade

Lot of factors in there but it could be pretty similar. Good thing is 425 is still current so you could hit them in a simulator togeather.

 

Or just upgrade to the Hammer X

I think the great thing about the 400MAX is its combination of length, forgiveness and feel for a lot of golfers.  Its very long but there were longer drivers at the time so its not that metric alone that makes it the best driver of the last few years.

I loved the G400max when I gamed it, but there was not much I could do to keep the spin below 2500 or so... more often it was significantly higher than that. Dropped the loft down to 9* & threw a tour 65 shaft in there but I still couldn't keep from hitting high balls. 

Moved to the OG sim & picked up close to 15-20 yds on average & finally found a flatter ball flight. Far more crooked though lol

Yeah, the Hammer X is the only driver in the world that has any technology in it whatsoever.  Just ask Jack Hamm!  All other drivers are obsolete! 🤦‍♂️
