How do you Initiate your putting stroke

Hi all, looking for your views and input here. I have issues being handsy in the putting stroke, the shorter the putt the more difficult it seems for me. 
 

it is most present in the initiation of the stroke, I get handsy, push my putter back, outside the line and compensations start from there. 
 

I have gone left hand low, better already, but still. I am trying a slight forward press also slightly better. 
 

I’m wondering what you do to go from still to movement in your stroke. What feel, visual or queue do you use to start a connected backswing? 
 

Finally, I’m using a 400gr putter head, maybe that complicates things as well.

Okay so that not how it's supposed to happen, but sometimes it does.   When I am putting well (and that does happen from time to time), once I am in a good setup position, I shift my focus to my wrists instead of the ball.  The ball will become secondary.  If all goes well, it's just a rotation of the shoulders as fas back as I had practiced and then reverse direction and through the ball.  I'm just moving my shoulders and wrists.  The putter being there is just a bonus.  There's no forward press.  No movements of the hands and wrists.  It's just a rocking of the shoulders.

 

Hopefully this all takes place in a second or two.  The completed setup is the trigger.  I don't consider the things I do before as a trigger.  It's just a means to an end.

I used to have the club grounded, forward press then go.  Doing that I couldn't get rid of a loop on the backswing no matter what I tried.  Now to initiate I hover for a second and then go.  Effortless perfect arc backswing now.

Very good idea; that and/or to tap the putter head on the ground before going; to engage arms/shoulders and not be 'surprised' by the weight going back and looping to try and save it

I tap.  It helps me not become robotic and stay athletic.  I also try very hard to not be concerned with the outcome of the putt and really make sure to keep my shoulders and arms relaxed and free of tension.

For me, my eyes look at the target and when my eyes come back to the ball, the arms go back to start the stroke.

First initial thing is Mentally settle on where its going standing over the ball as Im a feel putter and dont do all this fancy lining up stuff

 

Then Physically I initiate by droppin my hands into position (move 1) close to body like Ricky putts, which is my first move before forward press (move 2)
