Bubba Watson - Classy Move. (Spoiler Alert)

Since Bubba had a history of being criticized here in the past, I thought this should be posted.  In the Saudi Event today, Bubba came back from a messy double on 12 to finish Birdie / Eagle and a two shot lead.  About 45 minutes later Harold Varner birdies 17 and then makes an unbelievable 120’+ putt from off the green on 18 for an eagle and an unlikely 1 shot victory.  Bubba was probably getting ready for a playoff after Harold birdied 17.  After Harold made the Eagle, Bubba literally jogged what seemed like a quarter mile to make sure he could congratulate Harold green side.  Seemed genuinely happy for Varner.  Good look for Bubba.

Looked like all the players and caddies were thrilled for Varner, and why wouldn’t you be? Remarkable finish there.

Harold Varner is a great dude. One of my favorites. That finish was amazing. Classy move by bubba too. Bubba was just happy for him.

Glad someone posted this. I looked for a thread but didn’t see one. Great putt (and I loved the commentary as the ball was rolling). 
 

HV must be a really good guy, because there seemed to be a lot of people really happy for him. Tommy Fleetwood was really good too, big congratulatory hug before he even finished. 
 

And I agree, really classy by Bubba to make that kind of effort to get down the green.

I watched the telecast this morning and nearly fell off my chair on HVIII's putt. Wow, great finishes by both Bubba and HVIII. 

 

Yes, it's a classy move by Bubba, even congratulated him before the last player putted out.

I find it interesting that at 10:00 AM Sunday morning, East coast, that neither Golf Channel or ESPN have updated the leaderboard.

Bubba is a good guy who is misunderstood IMO. Having followed him at the 3M Open he's definitely someone who processes things a little differently. Saw this interview w barstool recently and he comes across as a very classy/well spoken individual.

Really happy for HVIII. Good guy who has struggled a bit more on Tour than I thought he would. Saw him here a few years back at the now-defunct Nova Scotia Open on what is now the Korn Ferry Tour.

I just finished reaching bubba's book, Up and Down.  Traditionally I really disliked bubba but he elaborates on a lot of things that made me change my view of him.  Like others have said he is more misunderstood than childish, arrogant etc. that people have said about him before.

My kid is in Youth on Course. HVIII is an awesome guy who is a big spokesperson for the organization.  That was an AWESOME way to win for HVIII and so happy for him.  I'd also note that my kid and I followed him for a round at the Safeway Open a couple years ago and he was so great with giving out high fives and hellos even though he was mid-tournament round.

Did anyone notice the reaction from the gallery when HVIII made that spectacular loooong winning putt that was probably worth a million or so? It appears that maybe 5 people total even watched the putt. They definitely don't go play over there for the "fan thrill".

If you want to avoid finding out how a live sporting event ended because you want to watch it later then it is on you to avoid looking in places where you will find the result.

 Bubba and HVIII are good friends. They spend lots of time together as been noted by golf channel. Still classy move though.

Varner and Watson are close friends, at least that's what I read.   This is normal behavior if that's the case.

Bubba is a good dude and does alot for golf, not just the PGA tour.

 

And can't help but feel happy for Harold. Who comes across as a genuine down to earth guy. I mean he said he was going to mow his parents lawn on Monday after his final group US open round!
