Similar golf swings, perhaps, but when it comes to integrity, these two men have absolutely nothing in common.  One has it, the other is Phil Mickelson.

Phil is exactly like Palmer.  Both are fan favorites.  Both have contributed a huge amount to charity.  Both have supported the game of golf.

Yes, Phil is the modern day Arnold Palmer.

As someone with first hand knowledge working with Phil on a charity project, you guys bashing him have no clue what you are talking about.  He is one of the most sincere, generous human beings I have met.  His work with our project was never reported to the media and he never sought recognition.

You guys trust everything you read in the media?

Heaven help you.

Of course I don’t believe everything I read on the Internet.  That’s why I’m completely ignoring your shilling for him 😂

well the last thing they want is to be associated with someone who was going to be business with people they do business with.

Jeff maybe it’s the fact that he never apologized to the PGA Tour??? That’s my take and I’m sticking to it.

Big picture here. Phil got caught creating a business that competes with the pga tour. Competition in any business is normal and desirable.  Most don't approve of the money behind it but it's certainly not illegal.

So what was the tour response? The tour, the players and their media lapdogs went into complete, organized attack mode on Phil personally.  Many things that were said stretched the truth and gave a one sided account of things. Fine. Except for one thing.  Phil's reputation is in tatters. No doubt about that. What penalty should be paid for doing full court highly organized character assassination  of a sports icon? I dunno. But if the PGA Tour has more than 2 functioning brain cells (doubtful) they should be hiding under their lovely oak desks sh*tting themselves. Phil is going to sue them into oblivion and when he does they will have deserved it.  At this point whether Phil was right or wrong is irrelevant.

If the  PGA tour had taken big steps to improve themselves , instead of nuking the messenger, the competing tour would have died on the vine with zero reputational damage to their brand or their players. They chose the other way. The tour and their media hacks are going to really regret this.

As for the pga tour "improve" themselves, do you mean like securing a record 10 year TV deal despite dramatically falling TV golf ratings over the last 20 years?

Lol OK Phil apologist. Nice spin. You part of Phil's PR team?

Nope not a Phil apologist. Not spin. Was anything I said factually or legally incorrect? If so enlighten us and contribute to the discussion.  The lesson here is don't shoot the messenger. Message obviously not received.

I don’t see where the PGA Tour has made any comments on Phil’s tirades.

Have you?

His reputation is in taters primarily because of his comments and his own comments about his own actions.

I’m curious, who can Phil sue and what can he sue for?

He has no idea what Phil can sue for.

The tour is well represented by PGA and Champions tour pros who sit on the board of the PGA tour. Additionally there is as a player advisory council of 10-15 other PGA players.  Refute that!

Overall the PGA tour is doing pretty well as the preeminent global golf tour. Is there room for improvement, sure. But it's not like they haven't done anything about it.

- The PGA tour recently secured that lucrative 10 year deal despite tv golf ratings falling for 20 years.  Refute that!

- The tour started a PIP fund w/additional 40MM up for grabs.  Refute that!

- Lets not forget the pot of gold up for grabs with the FedEx cup.

- The PGA Tour has one of the best pension plans, maybe even the best, of any professional sports organization.  Refute that!

- Endorsement deals that are available to these guys in the name of the PGA tour are huge and lucrative.

There is a contract (I'm not going to look for it and repost but it's in one of these threads). Similar to any contract we all engage in when we work or consult for a company there are terms.  Admitting you helped build a competing organization will justifiably land you in hot water.

Sure Phil could sue them. You can sue anyone for anything.  But he said what he said multiple times. His grounds are baseless. More like he could be the one getting sued by a variety of parties for violating contracts.  Who exactly can Phil sue and specifically for what?

As a former and longtime ardent Mickelson fan, I can say that Phil is 100% responsible for creating his mess. He hung himself with his own words and hypocrisy.  I haven't heard one player come to his defense.

I've heard nothing but slimy moves by Shipnuck. There are a lot of guys that don't like him and the 2 guys and Beemer wouldn't even say his name on the subpar a couple weeks ago. Colt hinted how hated he was and Beem said the guy took advantage of him for a book.

Bottom line dont do business with shady people(Saudis and Shipnuck) and you won't get burnt.

Yet, what he released was true - Phil isn't denying one word of it just the silly didn't have his permission to relate it, which he never had veto power over in the first place.

No point deflecting from the issue at hand, which is Phil said what he said.

Let the chips fall where they may.
