A little love for Phil

I do not know Phil Mickelson. All I know is his golf and his accomplishments on the course which are worthy of his HOF career.

You may not like his decisions or choice of words, but his accomplishments are what they are and they speak for themselves.

A lot of the personal attacks, mostly from people who more likely than not, do not know him, says more about the individuals than Phil Mickelson.

Just saying.....

I am a lifelong Phil fan and still am.  I don't condemn a person for a few misspoken words.  He apologized for his choice of words and is moving on.  Me too.

I hope all of the self-righteous people condemning Phil apply the same standards to all other pro golfers.   I'm sure they are still condemning Tiger for all of his transgressions.

I need to learn more about the whole non profit game.

Harvard has 30+ billion in endowment almost a billion in revenue, non profit, but a surplus.....

mega churches non profit...

Yes, it is a scam.  These people are very powerful and enjoy not paying FIT.

Wiki says "The Harvard University endowment (valued at $53.2 billion as of June 2021)[1] is the largest academic endowment in the world.[2][3] Its value increased by over 10 billion dollars in fiscal year 2021, ending in the largest sum in its history.[1] "

Sports fans will cheer for an axe 🪓 murder who wins in grand style and puts some on excitement in their day

But they will boo Mother Theresa out of the stadium if she fumbles with the game on the line 🤣

Thats just how it is.

Tiger? He’d be living under a rock if he played like a hacker after Thanksgiving 2009. But he manned up and got it done. Fans came running back.

I think pga tour  fans will give him a warm welcome and see how he does. He doesn’t have to win but if he plays well, he’ll win the crowd. If he stinks he may get mocked badly.

Phil jumped the shark.  Everything he does from now on will be judged with this s**t show.  No legacy, no nothing.

I don't expect him to play the US Open.  He has enough money now, no need to endure the brutal heckling if he shows up.  He has shown it's the money, not the wins or majors that matter.

Signed, a disappointed former Phil fan.

I've been reflecting on this post.

I don't wish bad ju ju on Phil and really wish I hadn't posted a knee jerk reaction to my disappointment in his personal choices.

Phil came out of this smelling like roses IMO.  Just as the career phase of his profession has ended and he is entering into retirement mode, someone comes along with $200M just for showing up 8 times/year.  How lucky can you get?

He may have destroyed his legacy with some posters here but for most the normal golf fans who were Phil fans before, he's still a hall of famer who they loved to watch for 30 years.

You have to tell me how his PGA win was a fluke. Did all the rest of the field lay down and let him win?

Check his recent results pre and post PGA win. The PGA win was a fluke.

As do I, but like @Greg_B so correctly stated, he no longer has that career.
Imagine if he hadn’t lost all self control and screwed up the last half of it.

Just to put a bow on this Tiger talk, I’ve been fortunate enough to have watched the entire careers of 4 athletes who most consider the GOATs of their respective sport… Tom Brady, Wayne Gretzky, Michael Jordan, and Tiger Woods.

Of those 4, only one squandered the last half of his career, and is looked down upon for his lifestyle almost as much as he’s looked up to for his accomplishments.

Didn't read the top of the thread or know how this is going- but my here's my little love for Phil - I hope he wins the US Open.   I would love that.

I am not ready to bet on it though, I don't have the money to lose gambling that Phil has.

I do hope that LIV comes up with some way that you can just choose your player and see their whole round of golf.  I'd love watching Phil play.

Something like watching "featured groups" on DTV or online at pgatour.com with the Majors?  Heck, The Masters puts out their own online stream.  But, they don't care about sponsors or anything but good golf.

So you think guys think this somehow makes Phil better than them? Do you guys benefit in some way for pointing this out? Is Phil paying you to slam his detractors? Truth is Phil could give a crap about either side, because he cares only about Phil. Just ask

What think guys think is their business, not mine.

I think it was on masters, or maybe even on some of the apps, I can make my own group - that's kinda what I mean.   Weird thing was that I was looking on ESPN+ or Paramount+ for the featured groups yesterday, and couldn't find one for Rory - I did find one for Thomas.     But I kinda mean the option to go back and watch every shot that My favorites make.
But even yesterday with LIV, Phil was out of it, so I only saw maybe 4 shots of his in the 2 hours I watched?   I understand why, but I'd like a way to watch him, maybe just to understand a bit more about why that score.

I stopped being a Phil fan after the Ryder Cup at Oakland Hills.   Phil switched equip last second (word on the street is Ely paid off his gambling debts...notice a theme?) and practiced away from the fans who paid big $$ to see him.   Phil is all about Phil.  Maybe that is why he and Norman get along so well.

That's what some would say about Jack in 1986.  But Phil still did it last year and Jack did it in 1986.  They have to have the ability to get to the point where that "fluke" could even happen.   They have to have the fortitude and game to overcome all the things happening, not the least of which being 46 and 50.   Yes, the other players could have played a just a little higher level, but didn't.

So are you taking the fluke out of history?
