That OnOff 3 wood is awesome Reid! I love the paintfill on your Chikara wedges as well. You have one of the sweetest bags on here. Thanks for finally updating the pictures :good:

Very sweet setup. Just wanted to know where you got those headcovers with a picture of your dog? I love to have a headcover or two with my pup's mug on it.

Thanks,

LT

Here's a post I made on them

Kerry, Frank, Kyle...thank you much! :bb2:

Kyle..that paintfill I did on the Chikara's was probably my 10th maybe 12th attmept. :clapping: I was trying probably every color and color combination Carl had. Finally I saw one of the Pro's wedges Carl did in the Fuscia and decided to go with it too. I did the channell for kicks. Carl was grossed out :p but I told him as much comments I get from cart boys after they saw my blued Vokeys he did for me, I might as well do something a little "extra" to get more attention and free advertisement for him. :vava: It's definitely caught a lot of attention at the courses and ranges. I touch it up pretty much after every round as the channell paint gets worn off pretty fast.

The wedges look straight out of the old WWF Heart Foundation. They look sweet. I admire your sticktoitiveness with the upkeep on the channel paint, but then again, ot looks so good. I am still speechless that about 80% of the first page is pictures of gear that I have never seen before, you truly have the coolest stuff around. Thanks again for sharing.

  • 5 months later...

After a bit of teasing from friends regarding my bag(s)...and my WITB pics not being close to what I've been using, I figured...lousy day for golf...might as well take some pics in between the rain showers.

I got bored last year after getting my OnOff bag set up. Some familiar with OnOff gear probably would have thought I was nuts to get bored. BUT..that's pretty much how I am.

I started by looking at all the US Brands and thinking about what I hadn't had in a long time. I've had several full Titleist and Callaway full bags in the past so that didn't interest me. I had just recently had a Ping Anser 4 made by the WRX department so I took that as the start of a Ping bag. Through a great contact here locally, I had myself fit into a set of i10 irons with X100 shafts. Next was a G10 driver which I had Carlton of Chikara Designs shaft up with a Axiv X shaft. Then I had him shaft up a G10 3 wood with another Axiv X. Finally a G10 hybrid was added with a Pro Launch Hybrid shaft. I tossed the i10 PW and added a Ping Tour W 47* in it's place. I didn't like the sole on the stock PW because it just was too clunky for me and I had no feel in my shots. I also added a Retail 60* Black Oxide Chikara wedge to go along with my Prototype 52*. After getting all the clubs, they just didn't look right in my Japanese bags so a Ping Tour Staff bag was custom ordered to complete the set up.

As for the OnOff bag..it just got updated the other day as well. I added a 2008 460cc Plus Driver straight from the Daiwa tour van to the bag. The all black head was just too pretty not to add. Carlton installed a Roddio in there that just has done wonders for my driving. Almost like using a automatic camera..just point and shoot.

Putter-wise...I've managed to thin out a lot of my putters. I recently sold my last "tour" Cameron as well as many of my retails. No reason for it other then I haven't used any of them in ages. I still like Camerons and have actually been contemplated adding a "tour" Studio Select to the collection. I really love the way that putter strokes. I also added a JAS Ping Craz E One to the collection. I really love the balance on it and when I'm in a slump, it's one of my first "go to" putters. I tried the TM Spider and although it was a bit prettier then the JAS, the feel and the balance on it just weren't right for me. A couple of Rifes were also added. A IBF Aussie was another putter that just looked so nice in its black finish. I haven't bagged it yet, but it's definitely a keeper for me. A 470 Pro Blade was also added. I have seen a few of these in the past but never one like my addition. I thought the position of the neck was interesting and after balancing the shaft on my finger, my thoughts were right, it was face balanced. After a few emails to some Rife friends, my thoughts were confirmed that it was definitely a rare piece and more then likely made for the "tour". I'll be sending my friend these current pics for the final determination. I've also got my name on one of the first Chikara Designs putter offerings. I've stroked the Proto's and my curiosity along with my confidence in Carlton as a friend and clubmaker for me is enough to as usual...make me open my wallet to him.

Hope you all enjoy the updates. :D

Nice update! I've been wanting to put together an all US spec bag - debating between Macgregor, Ping, or my old faithful, Callaway. The Pro-C combos and some custom ground Don White wedges are very tempting. However the OnOFF stuff is working so well that the urge to tinker hasn't won out - yet!

Again, thank you for the pictures!

Thanks guys. Kyle PM on it's way. JR...now you and I both know if you had to redo your pics, we'd never see you here online for a month! It's bad enough I take pics and in between have gone through a ton of other stuff. It's even worse considering I took these pics two days ago and have already changed multiple things. :russian_roulette:

That Bridgestone putter is sweet!

Thank you! It's definitely one of my favorites in my collection.:man_in_love:

Pitbull are you able to compare version 1 and version 2 of the Chikara protypes??

I've played about five rounds now with my v2. Basically the reason I picked it up was that I loved the looks of it when I first saw the originals that were made for Tadd Fujikawa. I begged Carl to make a few more sets at that time but he wasn't heading back to Japan anytime soon so I was was left with nothing. Later when he made them available, I just had to get one not because I was tiring of my Proto 52* but only because it looked so darn good. So far I'm really loving it from 90-50 yards out and then around the edges of the green. I do have to be a little more careful about getting too steep with it as it does definitely go very cleanly under the ball. When I need to, it seems like I'm able to hit it a little higher then my Proto 52. It definitely allows me an alternative then attempting a longer lofted shot with my 60*.

i must admit, i love your bridgestone/tourstage more and more every time i see it

are those hard to find??

and how do you decide which bag you wanna play, or is it just whatever you feel like

it's always a joy to visit your WITB thread every once in a while and see what changes you've made, lol. my favourite part has got to be the putters, i've started a collection myself but it is nothing like yours

Thank you.....for us in Hawaii..JDM is pretty easy to find. There are many shops that we can find new as well as used JDM from. If we can't find it, it's pretty easy to find a source to get them from as well. Probably one of the reason's you'll find so many Hawaii Gwrx'ers have Tourstage, OnOff, G Field, Yamaha, Miura, Honma, Fourteen, PRGR, XXIO and other brands many have never heard of in their bags.

As for picking a bag...whatever I feel like going with on a particular day. Usually I'm bagging the Onoff bag though. The Pings were pretty much an experiment.

Careful collecting those putters..it can be a dangerous addiction. :D
