Ping Driver/Woods 2023?

With all the troubles Ping has had with completing orders this year which is now starting year 2 of the G425 line. Do you think that they delay next years release and get caught up? Or do they push through with the next one? I was going to get fit for the top end of my bag but if it takes a long time and they release the new one in 6 months I doubt I’ll be happy haha.

There is an actual chance that people would get their orders delivered to them after the new line is released.

Yeah I already solved my problem with a go between. Bought a used G425 3W off the bay and a new shaft for the driver.

New Ping wood line, Game Impovement Irons, I210 replacement and G710 replacement are all scheduled for Janurary 2023. Ping reps will be in USA next month to view the gear. 

 

Currently in Aus wait on custom is still 8 to 10 weeks. 7 wood heads for example have come back into stock but have 2 months of past back orders to clear! They are now mainly only fitting for what is in stock to try save these issues.

PLEASE PLEASE, PING....focus on sound and feel.  I know so many players who won't use the G425 and proviso because of the hollow loud sound.  It turns heads on the range and not in a good way.

That would be nice. The other thing that would be great is if they could keep the MOI of the G425 Max and somehow make it faster.

Was told they came in last week and have alot of back orders to get to before new orders will be processed so lets hope they are getting to them now for you!

I'm no engineer but It's always seemed like ball speed and MOI are inversely related somehow.

That would be very ambitious, considering not too long ago, they were not even answering their phones for 8 hours a day.

Its a real shame. They had one of the best names in the industry. Now they would nearly be as bad as TM for support and delivery times. I know people who wont buy as were told 2 weeks, then 2 weeks, then 2 weeks to have their gear arrive months later.

They seem to be off to a good start for 2022 with the i525, PLD putter line with a dedicated website and the Glide 4.0 coming soon.

We have a bunch of PING insiders here so I’m sure we will hear soon. However, TXG have said that the new woods line is coming this year, not 2023.

All possible, but kind of a PITA. It's already a heavy head so then you're looking for a lighter replacement back weight that offsets the amount of glue applied, you either have to know how to do it or find someone etc.

 

Much easier if Ping made a better sounding head or did the hot melt at the factory as standard.

I imagine their product launch cycle is a well behind schedule. Prices have gone up in the UK and expectant customers are facing a communication block from Karsten UK. The I210 is seen as a modern classic so the replacement needs to perform in a similar vein and not cost a fortune. The driver needs to sound less like an empty can and more like TM and other rival heads. Should be out in 2024.

Txg is wrong. As of last update new stuff was slated for 2023. I210 replacement this year though

Yeah, because no other driver these days can give good results.  Gimme a break.  When all drivers are good, why buy the driver that sounds terrible?  I've seen people on the range move down the way a few stalls because some 20 handicapper is banging his G425 for 45 minutes straight.

 

Better players care about sound.  You'll see one day if you get there.

Are 20 cappers the only ones who hit drivers at the range? Or do they swing exceptionally hard?

Why are you complaining about sound, on the G425? Your own statement about those others are so great then?

double and triple like. I tested and gamed both the 425 max and lst, still have the max but despite the great dispersion compared to the other drivers I’ve gamed, the sound and feel make it basically unplayable.

I have the 425LST and smoke it smush it. To me sound is not terrible at all. But the lst sounds completely different from the max IMO. 
 I have been contemplating the Mizuno STZ titanium face carbon crown!!! I really do like the titanium sound.

PING is still my favorite company, even though I don't have too many of their products in the bag currently. The reports of major delays prevented me from ordering any current products from them. I think they make some of the best performing clubs on the market, but I have to be honest, their 425 woods sounded loud and terrible (worse than the 410 series IMO).

 

The 425 Max and LST drivers don't come close in sound to the last gen Callaway Epic Speed and from what I've heard, the latest Rogue ST line. 

 

Really hoping they go carbon on their next line as that will pretty much take care of the sound issues, and I'm looking forward to seeing the i210 successor.

TXG certainly didn’t say any woods were coming this year.  I haven’t heard anything about a launch this year.

I'm pretty sure on the pod Mike or RD said Ping woods coming later this year...anyways, might have been a statement of "they are due" more-so than a "it's launch on date x"

I see 425s all the time.  I have three in my group of 5.

 

I like the sound of the LST, MAX not as much. In fact, i dislike the sound of the carbon drivers.  That muted, thud is weak sounding.  When I hit the 425 I know when I caught it and when I didn't...feel and sound wise.  

 

Not like it's the old Nike SQ line or the G line...I added a TON of hotmelt to that one, still put a ring in your ears if you really lit one up.  Never hit that one indoors.
