Ping Driver/Woods 2023?

You clearly aren't even reading my replies so I'll make it simple.

Sure plenty of 460 rear weighted drivers that are muted. But are they THE BEST option for the category. NO

Things done to drivers to raise MOI CAN make it loud. MOI doesn't equal loud.

Funny how you now want to make blade comparisons.

Anyways, believe what you want. It doesn't bother me. I've explained why I believe what I believe, and you've responded with "it sounds bad because they didn't address it" multiple times. These statement hold no water and are 100% not backed up by logic or knowledge that this is actually the case. This debate isn't worth it.

460cc open chamber is a 460cc open chamber - PING reached a 10,000 MOI score by literally hanging the outside weight so far off the rear exterior of the club that some people with an extreme positive angle-of-attack drag the sharp cubic tail-weight on the tee box leaving a score mark on the ground. Ive seen it.

Unscrew that tail weight and put it in your pocket, you now have a 7000 MOI driver that is still loud.  In fact PING states that if you move the tail weight into the draw position it's no longer 10,000 MOI.

You're calling the G425 best in class forgiveness - and it is!  But it's by a rounding error. There are other drivers deep into the 9000's MOI score...that aren't anywhere near as offensive..

So you can die on your "PING can't make it quiet because of it's inherent forgiveness" hill.  But you're kidding yourself.  And there are about 15 players in this thread that stated they'd prefer if PING quieted the G driver for next release cycle.

I mean this is a website for people obsessed with golf equipment so it's not surprising for ping fans who don't like the sound of the driver to complain about it. Personally the g425 was a good driver but if we are asking for changes to the driver for the next release, I would agree that a better sound would be top of my list as well. I think 11/14 of my clubs are ping...driver is not one of them.

Ping 425 LST best driver I've owned....if they mute the 430 with carbon I'll likely not get it.

I don't mind missing a generation of "new" design anyway...G series was good performing but seriously if we're talking sound, it's been greatly improved since then.

You are still completely missing the point, and I disagree with most of what your saying.

First off if you remove that rear weight the driver does not fall to 7000. Ping heads are normally around 200-206 gram total headweight weight (ignoring the sleeve), obviously depending on the build (length, shaft, desired sw, etc). They advertise the weight being 24 grams if I remember correctly. We'll even ignore the fact that it won't always be that, and just pretend they are all that weight. So that weight is about 12% of the total headweight. I struggle imagining losing 12% weight even given it's location changed moi 30% like you claim. Not to mention this whole theory is irrelevant. Comparing a ping head without a weight to another brand with their weight is comparing apples and oranges. They all have weights. Pings weight wasn't just them just saying "hey let's make that heavier" without doing other things in the head.

This is the part you still ignore. Why is pings weight so much heavier when compared to other brands? Like you say 460 is 460 so everyone should be able to use a 24 gram weight right? Wrong. There's a total weight these brands are shooting for. The more material they use elsewhere in the head, the less weight they have to put at the back. This is why ping did "dragonfly" on the crown. It allowed them to use less material, saving weight, and raise the rear weight. I'm sure they've done this type of thing in other areas of the head, but it just wasn't a marketed tech like dragonfly for consumers to read about. Now through doing this they've thinned out areas of the head to redistribute it to raise moi. You're telling me this has a 0% chance of changing the sound? Seems pretty common sense that this would. Knock on a thin vs thick piece of anything and the thinner one will sound less solid. So again, MOI≠bad sound. Yes. But the tech you use to raise MOI CAN. Tried to explain this 3 times and you continue to just state moi doesn't mean bad sound and ignore this.

Could they go to a carbon crown to change sound? Sure. But is this actually lighter than their current crown? I'd guess not or they'd have done it.

And if you know people who are catching the weight on the ground, their delivery has to be poor. I'm staring at a 425 max and don't even see how that possible.

Lastly. I haven't seen anything on other drivers being deep into the 9000. It seems mainly because this data isn't released from other manufacturers. Attached some charts from 2018. Has this gap probably narrowed from 2018. Sure 100%. How much I dont know. Let's guess it's 3-5% now or slightly better than halfed. Imo that's a lot to give up so sound that can be changed by the user. This is especially true when you think about how long these improvements take. That's often more than a generation improvement for a given brand. Granted, that's assuming the 3-5%. If you could show me a chart of a TS2 being within 1% (which is what I'd define as round error like you say) from a 425 I'd agree with you. Pick off sound. But I can't find that chart.

Yea im usually one to get in these squabbles, but im learning to refrain 🤐

This one you may as well throw some gas on it and burn it to the ground. Then start a new one only to have the same thing happen again…..

As Neutral a Bias as possible for the standard version would be a huge differentiator

enough of the draw bias

let people use weights or buy the D version

some of us would like some spin with a neutral bias

LST is great and all, but the low spin nature is less than ideal for many

g400 was like that

just dreaming....

How about MOI via weight and club speed? Seems like a lot of people swing the Pings a little slower.

I believe pings philosophy is heavier head for more mass to produce ball speed offset somewhat by a longer counter balanced shaft.

...as a PING Top 100 Fitter it's my opinion PING knows their customer. They sell a driver that is  forgiving as possible on all swings. I've never come to a conclusion that ball speeds are slower.

This is what we want, in a way I think G410 Plus delivered this. G425 Max didn't.

Let's hope G430 Max can achieve it also.
