NBC's coverage is godawful

Roger was supposed to have been done after last season. NBC brought him back when Bones decided to caddy for JT.

No. That's not saying CBS is great but their gawdawful commentators aren't as bad as NBC's bunch.

NBC is so outdated ... dumb Zinger has dementia or a bad hangover each broadcast. Never prepared and says the same lines over and over . Gen X doesn’t want to hear that idiot and us boomers knew he sucked anyway.

The lead guy is awful should been replaced years ago.

The old guys Rofling  and the chubby ex player are boring and sound old.

Feherty sounds awful.

NBC golf has been long overdue for a change. NBC golf coverage is worse than CBS which means it’s really really bad.

Commercials pay for air time so it is what it is.  Feherty can be a bit over the top at times with his antics, but he's not nearly as bad as Gary McCord was.  I agree with the rest of your post though.

I dont dislike Azinger as much as many here seem to.  I like that he seems to be talking to someone as he watches, not so produced and proper.

I'm sure the coverage will get better when we are assaulted by Points Bet odds more frequently, now that this gambling initiative is taking off. They say they won't deter the mainstream fan, but all they care about is the all mighty dollar.

I have opinions on the golf commentators. But first I have to get over having to change the channel to watch a golf tournament half way through. Us golfers are a relatively tame lot. Imagine the outcry of having to change the channel half way through a football game each time

Golf coverage in general is simply awful.  You have to jump through hoops to be able to watch early rounds, they don't televise all golfers.  Lesser known guys can make incredible shots, but there's no cameras on them for some reason.

 

Commercials interrupting play sucks.  At least one of the channels (golf channel maybe) shows commercials and golf simultaneously and side by side, but not all.  

Then there's the announcers...

Side by side coverage really never works. The picture box is small even on a big screen and without commentary you have little idea what is being shown.

Yes, it's certainly not ideal, but it's better than cutting out completely.  

Golf is unique in that unlike football, hockey, basketball or other televised sports, they don't take a timeout for commercials.  I far prefer a split screen option to nothing at all.  We have to accept that they're going to air commercials.  That's how they make money.

Not unique. Auto racing also does not take timeouts and TV coverage often uses to side by side technique to accommodate commercials. It does not work there either.

NASCAR and stage racing/debris cautions beg to differ.

 

All of the networks only knew how to saturate coverage with Tigergod and the majority of viewers ate it up. It's always been pretty garbage, but now they're exposed without their life preserver.

TV golf coverage has lost its way.  Less talk & more action would be nice. 

 

All the networks would be better served by letting the action tell more of the story rather than rushing to turn a broadcast into a podcast.   

 

Announcers are going too often for their equivalent of a "home run" rather than a "single" or a "double" level comment.

It's nearly passable with IndyCar, since when they come back from the split screen they update you if anything happened in the meantime.  Whereas GC with the European Tour broadcasts, or up here in Canada, TSN with F1, they just throw it in, and tough luck if something happened in the meantime, cause those announcers have no idea that anyone went to a break.

It’s not just the commercials.  It’s the “playing through” charade, non-stop on-air promotions and the corporate sell-out of everything.  Comcast top 10, shot tracer by top golf, leaderboard brought to you by, if you would have bet $100 on so&so at the beginning of the week, fedex cup brought to you by fedex showing you the race to the fedex cup and of course the virtue signaling CEO interviews 🤢

 

Id be willing to bet we get ~30mins of every hour anymore of pure coverage.  Even with my DVR and mad FF skills it’s hard to stomach.  I’ve gone from watching 3-4 rounds down to 1 (Sunday).  Even then it’s mostly on in the background until the end.

 

Makes you really appreciate the uninterrupted coverage brought to by Mercedes 🤣

Especially when they tell you to switch over to NBC and your NBC doesn't play well or not at all.......really frustrating.

Gary  Koch is  the worst and not sure  how he still has a  job. The stupid sounds he makes as a shot is coming to rest or when a bad  break happens, its unbearable
