Which Players Distance Irons are Best for a Picker?

Could someone please define what a picker is? Does this basically mean flipping through the hit but without chunking? Always on the edge of catching it thin?

Thanks. I reckon that basically means an ingrained rescue maneuver to avoid a fat hit, since the low point isn’t forward enough. Just trying to understand impact parameters which the club needs to support.

I’m a picker too.  As far as player’s distance I had decent luck with the 2020 P770s, but had to reshaft them with PX LS 6.5 to keep the flight down.  Also enjoyed the 2021 T100S if you consider that a player’s distance iron.

 

P7MC is by no means a player's distance iron; but that sole was absolutely perfect for me.  I’m currently really enjoying the Blueprint S as well.

Fellow picker here. Thinking out loud...

I just ran across a nice set of Bridgestone J40's for cheap and had to get them. Such good looking irons. The lofts are more traditional with a 47 PW and 4 degree increments thru the 5 iron. The bounce is pretty large (see attached pic). I'm thinking of bending them 2 degrees stronger and grinding the leading edge if needed. This would offset the large bounce and provide some more distance (which I need-gettin' older).

Would this be doable in practice?

This is the first set of v-soles I've had and would appreciate some input from those who've had more experience with them.

I am not sure, but sounds like something that would work.  The bounce does not seem overly high, but I would make sure you experiment with them on the range and course first.  Good luck on the endeavor.
