Maltby 2022 Iron Shafts

Hey Guys, I used one of the Maltby shafts when building out a 4 iron/driving iron type of club and enjoyed it quite a bit.

Has there been any word on a refresh of this shaft, perhaps at a heavier weight point? Would love this in a 105-115g range.

Agree on the heavier weight for these.  I asked about these shafts and the response from most here was that they play stiff to flex.  Did you find that to be the case?  I ended up going with the Aldila NV iron shafts for $6 more per shaft because I could get them at 95g.  I did use one of the Aldila NV 85 gram shafts to build a New Level 4995 driving iron and it feels fantastic - so I can imagine that the Maltby 85g in a driving iron would be fairly similar.

 

The market for heavier weight graphite iron shafts is very slim.  Seems like you have to go with Steelfiber at a much higher price point.

Yeah I've heard the same and my experience is similar, plays pretty stout for sure. I was looking at the NV's. Glad to hear they feel good! I may end up giving those a shot.

I recall reading the Q&A in the iron shaft main page where the question was asked if they would ever offer the iron shaft in a heavier weight.  The answer was "no."

 

It is funny reading some of the reviews of the Maltby MPF shafts.  The negatives seem to come from a similar demographic:  Angry retirees who hit their Grafalloy Blue or Kuro Kage R-flex 220 yards, but can't get the MPF regular shaft past 180...

It's been the same spec for years....a few different paint jobs, but yeah.....they won't be offering this shaft in a ~110+ weight because no one will buy a "component" shaft at the price point it would take to make, cough, offer it!
