Ping PLD Custom Program

Definitely. Looks to me like a one off PLD1 model with flat top line. Likely made to transition someone from an 009 to a Ping.

I also came to this thread to see if I could get my hands on one of these. I went back to a Craz-e this year and my putting came back with it. This would be my ideal putter.

Love the old school PING font! Is this patina finish? It looks a little more copper than brown…which I like.

Will they let you do custom engraving on the sole or can you only pick from certain engravings they have available?

It’s a patina finish. I believe they might make it a bit darker; however, I agree that the light finish looks good.

If you go the full custom fitting your options are virtually endless.

Here is a picture of some of the engravings they had to choose from.  I saw it by the putter fitting station so I took a picture in case I wanted to use any of them. But ya they really work with you and go through as many drafts as it takes before they start to engrave stuff.

Might as well post some other pics of the experience and the fitting room where that engraving plate above was taken.  
Once again, this was such a cool experience, highly recommend.

I’ve done so many fittings and I honestly thought I putted best with a center shaft putter (and had been using a Bettinardi center shaft Ss-28 for over a year).  But as you can see the numbers don’t lie and the anser did waaay better than the center shaft Tyne.  After the data I got to try them out on their practice facility outside and it confirmed the data.

Thanks for the image. I hope they are able to custom engrave whatever I would like and not just above. I tried emailing ping but can't get ahold of anyone in the PLD department to confirm before I book the fitting and fly out to Arizona.

It probably depends what you want, they have done other logos but that could be laser.

Idealy I would love a rampant lion or Scottish flag that is paint filled. Some kind of laser etching might work as well.

The Lion might be too detailed for engraving, maybe with laser. I'm sure a Scottish flag could be engraved. But don't quote me on anything.

I have scheduled a fitting for Aug 8th, first putter fitting and first putter I’ll purchase. I’ve been using my dad’s old putter he gave me since I’ve started golfing. I’m excited and leaning towards wanting an anser but going in with an open mind for what works best. I hope to have a nice addition to share in addition to everyone else’s.

Have most of you used the Stack Putting free trial before their fitting on top of the iPING sessions? I've never heard of I before.

Been following this thread for years and I haven't read anything here about it before so I'm assuming it's a newer thing. My in-person fitting is on August 1st so I've been trying to use the app and log as many sessions as I can to give Alex all the info he'll need.

Did you get anything from Alex on it? I signed up for the fitting yesterday on August 8th and received the email today.

He just included the 3 month free trial link in an email after I got my fitting confirmation, saying it was optional but would be helpful for him to look at. When I'm probably about a week out from my fitting I'll send him my numbers. I asked him how I should send my data and apparently there's a code you can generate in the app to share with others so they can look at your stats. From Alex:

 

-Click on “Menu” on the bottom right of the screen

-Under training, click on “Share’n your Stack’n”

-Next, hit the + to create a code

-Send me your newly generated code

So I have spent more than what would be considered a healthy and appropriate amount of time in this thread pouring over the pictures and had a very random observation/question…does anyone know the rhyme or reason to when PING does the USA engraving to the back of a custom PLD putter? Is it only a certain time period that they did it for? It seems like complete randomness as to what model they have it on.

If it’s a “custom” they’ll do it anytime at the request of the buyer. No set time for any engraving other than the purchase requirement.
