it is effectively an update for the pp58. The grip core is slightly offeset.

Well, it's here and I am pretty impressed with the final product. Ping is definitely building a premium product and the "1 of 1" touch is just the cherry on top. I brought this overall design to Alex and his team prior to even scheduling my fitting and they were up for the challenge to bring it to reality. They ended up having to program the sole engraving in the CNC to get it perfect as most of their engraving is done by hand and they wanted to make sure it was consistent. I personally think they nailed it! Looking forward to gaming it this weekend!

This picture makes me very happy I went with the prototype head...love the big PING in the cavity without the three underlines. 

 

Cannot wait! Ordered on 8/9 and hoping to have it in time for some fall golf!

These designs are fantastic.  After much waffling I ended up keeping it clean and simple...going for the "custom but not flashy design.". Fits my personality a bit more.  

 

I'm going to hold to it (maybe).  Still a 1 of 1 and maybe I'll just get another later that's got more going on.  😆

 

Didn't want to regret a choice after the fact.  It was odd, the design changed so much from one model to the next for me.  With the anser models I had a lot more I wanted to do.  With the DZB, I kept it more clean...the putter is just beautiful as is.

This looks incredible! Well done! What is the head weight with 4 plugs like that?

This is the older PLD from about 5 years ago. Probably not exactly the same as the current PLD but I'm sure it's very similar.

Awesome putter. I actually was thinking of doing something similar on the sole as well. Really cool

Super cool putters and am tempted to sell all my random putters to get one that is custom fit for me. 

 

1. It looks like majority of the folks have done virtual fittings- I am guessing in person would be better but is virtual still helpful to get putter length aim etc (I am assuming the app will take care of some of these?)

2. This is a minor one- but is there tax charged on top of the $1200? Living in CA, that would be a fairly sizable hit 🙂

Virtual fitting and in person use same app/cradle to get numbers.  Obviously the visual part that a master fitter would have, has a benefit and you can roll the different styles they have available.   App gets measurements and all that....

 

I was charged sales tax, can't speak to CA though.

Kidding.  Will be interesting, but really depends upon if you had a putter that fit you before or not.  If you use the iPing app to look at the stats on your new one or not...whether you suck or don't.  😉

 

I've always bought OTR for putters, only thing I didn't get custom.  Just used measurements and what looked and felt good.  Everything else in my bag custom built for me...theory is, can't be worse than what I have, right?  We'll see in a few weeks.  And yes, I'll reply here to give the experience, however I don't track stats heavily.

Very interesting thought to dig into data and see...

 

I don't have my putter yet, but my virtual fit confirmed that what I have been playing with forever fits me very well for the most part. Weight is the big difference in what I ordered vs what I have been playing. With my slower than average tempo (2.2), Alex wanted to do 350g. I think I do have to swing with more tempo on longer putts and I'm not as consistent as I'd like to be in lag putting. Like most people, my three putts pretty much all come from poor lag putts. I don't track stats very carefully, but I know I'm usually three-putting at least once a round on average...the last few rounds I played, I know I had 2-3 in each. So that'd be a great place to save a stroke or two a round.

Not a huge sample size, but in my 4 rounds with the PLD I've putted 2.5 strokes fewer than the last 4 rounds with my old putter. I've noticed improvement in my lag putting and feel very confident that every putt I hit is going in. 2 of the 4 rounds with the PLD were in a tournament, and no 3-putts! No regrets with the purchase yet.

Rolled the new PLD today and made a nice birdie putt and had about 3 or 4 10+ footers drop and shot an 85, so needless to say, I'm pretty happy. Now at the end of the day, I didn't expect a world of difference but was hopeful my putting may improve. I honestly purchased the PLD custom because I wanted a bad-A putter, that was one off and something unique to me, any improvement in my putting was just a bonus!!

Do you guys believe that the copper version of the pld will darken over time like the older becu ping putters?  I wasn't sure if all copper darken to a deep chocolate like that or if the berrylum had a factor in it.  Thank you.

It should be carbon so yes it will rust if not protected
